2.4 GHz or similar is definately the way forward with radios.

The only thing that puts me off going down this road with my current JR 9Xii transmitter is the idea of having to buy 9 new receivers to replace all those currently in use in my fleet of helis and planes.

I had the spektrum car version (KO/Module) in a kpd patriot 26cc off roader, used to run that around in the long grass 250mm+ to clean the mud off the car/tyres in the winter. And certainly no probs on a flooded track untill the water got in the air filter.

Where did you read it? I would be interested to read myself.

Been using the Futaba 2.4g system for some time now.

I mainly do 1/8th rallycross so its fitted in my 3VCS. I was on Spektrum but they do have problems, especially if racing on astroturf but the Futaba is just awesome! Wireless RX does look the business as well.

I was testing the system the 1st week it came into the UK back in August '06 for the current British Champion (Dave Crompton) who used it in his winning car for the last National meet where he regained his title.

I was only saying the other day to mate about Futaba releasing a 6/7/9ch rx and module for the FF series.

Spektrum is without doubt the future of RC but thier handsets do look a bit wank in my opinion.

the only place Spektrum gave me a problem was at Southend racing on the Astroturf, i had 2 lockouts! i'm pretty sure that was due to static as it was a very dry track that weekend! i know some people fitted powercaps etc to their recievers to try & avoid the problem but i never got round to fitting mine BUT despite never fitting the power cap like everyone else i've never had another problem with the radio all year! including the 2day GP meeting back at Southend where i suppose the slightly damper track wasn't so conductive

there's nothing to choose between Spektrum & the Futaba apart from the Futaba not using an external ariel & costing half as much again

oh & i prefer the way you don't have to reset your failsafe everytime like you have to with the Futaba

Thats odd, but if they dont have any problems then it must work....

found this on the SMC website: http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk...xd.asp?id=5401

I will point that out to the chaps i know that use it on boats,,they dont take them far out but it could be a potential problem,,i wouldnt want them to have to paddle/swim out to retrieve them when they go into failsafe

                        lol, good idea

of course SMC may have it wrong, but the description usually comes from the manufacturer so it shouldnt be incorrect!

                          Hi Col
I searched all over and eventually found the piece I read in my Clubs small news letter. It also says that you do not need to use a frequency board and that flying behind wet trees can be dangerous. This is mainly a plane club and nothing is said about helis.

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but why would someone fly behind a tree as you would not be able to see what the model was doing and therefore it would not matter if you had control or not!
