If the two transmitter are just out of range
I'm not sure what the range is on Spektrum based kit, however, if it's anything like PCM stuff, it's got around 2 miles. This is likely to be another non-issue.

or if one is shielded in a case or something, it could pick the same channels.
My Tx is never in a case when it's turned on

    Cheers,

This is the thing im finding the most difficult, in getting back into this pasttime. ALL the different servos, Recievers, radios etc.

Ive had a very steep learning curve from January when I decided to get back into heli's gone from none to my fourth being delivered this week.

now im looking around for the radio gear for them all which is the confusing part, I was contemplating the Spektrum system but im a little hesitant just to jump in. especially hearing of problems.
      All the best

What problems have you heard of - and more importantly, where have you heard/read them?

I've not seen anything negative personally, but then I haven't been looking either...

        Cheers,
        Rob

I love my JR9X and didn't want to swap it for anything but was lured by the benifits of the DX7. did the research and bought one. I don't like the feel of it compared to my 9X but it does feel more responsive. If I can get it to do what I want with the flaps on my glider I'll change all my models over to it.

One for Phoenix users though, if you have an early copy of the SIM then the DX7 may blow the dongle in the same way the JR2610 does, mine did

all ive heard is hearsay nothing official, ive heard of a few interferance issues and now the servos being a little week doesnt help. Plus a little hesitant because of new technology fears.

Ive been seriously looking at them. To be honest the only thing that has stopped me is ive got the FF9 and i'm not so keen on the looks of the DX7. pretty shallow I know I must get hold of one turn it on and look at the setting up of it.

              Hi Thomas,

I have ordered the Spektrum and await its arrival with great anticipation as Phoenix is sitting on the computer waiting to be used!

How can I tell which version I have and is there any way I can update it to prevent the dongle being "blown"?

Have also managed to get membership to SRFC and await all the gumf so will soon be down at Poling for a few lessons with Pat. Looking forward to it but in the meantime I have the sim to play with (once the spektrum has arrived) and a Titan to build !

This is the thread where I read about possible 2.4Mhz issues. To be fair a lot of it is aimed more at the DX6, but it's all good to think about.

Ben, there was only an issue with the very early version of the dongle and those who ran out and bought it on day one or two, they fixed the issue very quickly, which was down to one version of a JR radio sending power down the lead and blowing something, seems the DX7 does the same thing. One way of preventing a problem is not to power on the radio when it's plugged into the SIM lead.

Glad you managed to join SRFC, they're not all as bad as Phil makes out , though a hard hat is advisable when certain people are on the patch.

A hard hat is not an issuing being a surveyor!

It might even be advisable to wear a high vis jacket!

                      The Mk 1

An old bloke said, not me, not old!
Never buy the Mk 1, because you'll be doing all the development work, wait until it's sort. This stuffs been in the states for a few years?

I apply the above to Lotus cars, never ever buy a Mk1 lotus of any model!

the servos being a little week doesnt help
Sure - I'd not bother with the servos, just buy the Tx and Rx's.
In my experience, the bundled servos that come with most (mid ranged) Txs are utter crap - especially for helis.

                        Cheers,

I nearly bought one last weekend the price was right, a local model shop doing it for slightly less than ive seen in most places on the web.

so it may have to be done to see what their really like.

I have noticed on a range check (there is an aerial down button on the TX for range checking) that the range is reduced when I have may back to the model but if I turn and face it the range is much greater almost twice as good.

I have flown the small Trex 450 out of sight (well it was a dot) and still had full control of it (biggest dive I have ever done with a heli bringing it back down).
Yes I prefer that program menus and function of my FF9 but feel and use of the DX7 is just as good as my FF9.
I don't think there is nowt wrong with a DX7, especially as most big shops are out of stock at the moment.
