  • Which radio? for a 450 trex or mini titan

    Hello to everybody,

I would like to ask witch Radio & Model do you recommend between 150 to 250 pounds.
Will be used to future heli's, witch is the best for set-up (easier)?

    Futaba?
    Hitec?
    SpeKtrum?

    Many thanks to everybody.

    best regards

Spektrum dx7 is the most popular, and will do all you want.
Mode 2 is usual for helis.

They are ALL tricky to start off with!!!!
Spektrum receivers are cheaper than Futaba.
If you think you will be heading towards nitro, a 7th channel is desireable.
Many on here would consider the Spektrum DX7 the "default" TX for a heli.
I don't know much about the other one!!
Shop around for combo deals etc.

        DX7 without a doubt...

I bought a DX6 and thought I was sorted but then DSM2 came out, upgraded and bought a DX6i - this was great until I bought a 600N where I couldn't use the governor , so finally surrendered and bought a DSX9 to future-proof. Highly recommend a DX7 on that budget. Make sure you don't get the DX7se (no adaptor for buddy boxing, speed difference not noticeable unless you are an ace - imho!).

        Velocity 50 (OS 55)
Trex 600LE (OS 50, quick uk bits)
        Trex 500 (DS520s all around, fl760)
        Trex 450 (hs65mgs, ds420 tail, gy401)
        Trex 250 (stock)

well they used to be, but now, I think you will find that they are more or less the same for 7 channel and above
check fastlads, you may be suprised

I would go for the Futaba 7c

I dont plan on going Nitro anyyy time soon (dont quote me on that guys lol) so a Dx6i is perfect for me using just battery, so if you plan on staying on batt then the dx6i will suit you.

Having now found out what the difference is between using a mix and what you get in the Futaba 8FG, I would have to say how do you know?

Does the DX7 support mixing rate compensation, linkage compensation and speed compensation?

The OP may want to tune out all interactions in the swash.

I switch a 450 from my Futaba 10CG to a DX6i when I sold it. I nearly crashed the model. The DX6i is a pretty crappy TX all things considered.

Thats why I had to put 'dont quote me on that' next to what I said lol, it probably will happen, maybe when ive had enough expericance with my 450 and can start doing 3d untill then battery for now .

If you get worried about all that advanced compensation stuff you can add a CSM CL1 to your heli and get it all absolutley perfect for a fraction of the extra tx cost.
(but you would need to buy one for each of your helis, so it depends how many you have).

Now watch some you tube of Szarbo or Riva coping reasonably well with uncompensated interaction, speed, and rate errors on their helis

If you fly in real normal weather and not just perfect calm then the finer points of swash errors are a bit lost in the buffeting in my opinion

For a 450 you would either need:
                          Futaba R6106HF - £61.30
                          OR
Spektrum AR6110E - only £36.89 and HALF the weight of the futaba.
                          (Prices from FastLad)

I use a DX7 (without CL1) on my Srimok's and I managed to do pretty well in 3D Champs last year, (3rd place going into the finals,) all those extra features Futaba has are for people who dont know how to do mechanical set-up properly lol.

2 years ago I upgraded my Futaba 14MZ to a DX7 and havnt looked back.

So what ddo you think, about the futaba

The think is a friend of mind give me anew futaba T7C 2.4 ghz, for aa 90 pouds, and the unit think i need to buy is the receiver.

This you recommend to don't get the futaba and go to the DX7 espektrum?

The heli i get is the trex 450 sport super combo, so only i need the transmitter and the receiver.
And last question if i get the Futaba T7C 2.4 Ghz, with receiver you recomend for the trex 450?

Many thanks to everybody, all of you are really helpful.

keep the futaba 7c 2.4ghz and get a R617FS 7ch, you then have 7 channels if you want to upgrade to a nitro or scale later you can use the same rx, its cheaper than the same Spektrum rx at only £56 from fast lads
