You could well be right, however at nearly £100 per receiver for the futaba gear it's a very expensive switch to make, certainly not one I'll be making with 6 models to convert. Expectations are high because the dx7 is such a great radio and having seen the initial JR influences in the early spektrum stuff people might well be disappointed in the initial look of the dx8. I'd imagine most were hoping for a de-tuned dsx9 rather than a pimped dx6i.

nail on the head Andy! . i would be concerned that as it looks like a pimped dx6i will it suffer from the same problems eg the menu scroll wheel pushing through into the case with use or the trim sliders breaking?
the dx6i feels chunkier in your hands than a dx7 but is nowhere near as robust in use

I think the point about the DX10 is that its designed for the European - rather than UK - market. The Europeans love their "tray" transmitters - just look at the top end Graupner and Futaba sets - they are nothing like the American / Japanese styling we get here.

I have to say that I've always found Japanese transmitter styling over-ornate. Even my DSX-9 is full of nooks and crannies which make it difficult to keep clean. The DX10 seems to be all flat surfaces, which should be easy to clean with a simple wipe!

Also for types like me, who hold the sticks like a pen rather than "thumbs on top", the long sticks with flat areas to rest the side of your hand makes a lot of sense.

I agree the 8 looks tacky, but I can see the point of the 10s design cues and look forward to seeing one "in the flesh"....!

If someone is flying a DX7 then they are on 7 channel - which is 55 quid a receiver on futaba (R617). Futaba 8ch is between 80 and 110 depending on where you get it from. Spectrum AR7000 is 64 quid, the 9 ch is 94 quid....

Prices are very comparable but if you have already headed down the Spectrum route, then it is an initially costly exercise to move to the Futaba camp... however there is still a market for 2nd hand Spectrum receivers should people see the light LOL.

Anybody know when or if it's coming to the UK? And what sort of price tag th DX8 is likely to have? I'd love a DSX9 but it's out of my price range unless I can find a good second hand radio so a DX8 might be a good compromise.

I have noticed something that i don't seem to understand..

                      With Spektrum you get 5, 6, 7, 9 and 12 channel receivers..

But their radios are 5 (DX5), 6 (DX6 and DX6i) and 7 (DX7).. You can use the JR DSX9 and DSX12 with the Spektrum 9 and 12 channel Rxs so that makes sense.. However, with the new Spektrum DX8 and JR X11 you'll still probably use one of the above Rxs or the JR equivalent, as to my knowledge (and please correct me if am wrong) there is no Spektrum or JR 8 and 11 Channel Rxs.. So there is either a channel on the Rx or on the Tx that is not being used.. Do you think these are on the way or is it just a waste money to buy Txs with channels you can't use?
