  • BuzzFlyer BF8

    Hello,

Has anyone had any experience with the BuzzFlyer BF8 Transmitter, It looks very similar to the DX7 but is 8Channel rather than 7.

I am looking to use all 8 channels already as I have just made the Raptor flybarless using Gyros.

Unlike the spektrum kit, the TX along with an 8Ch RX is only £160 and additional 8Ch RX are only £25

IF it is any good, I would be looking to sell the DX6i, 2x AR6200 Receivers and 1x AR6100 Receivers to fund it.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Ian

It's actually a rebadged Walkera 2801. Reviews have been great for it. Imo you would be better of checking over in Rcgroups micro heli forum.

Give them a bell you might find it will bind to your Spektrum recivers anyway. It looks reversed engineered from the DX7 so it probably will.

I'm affraid it won't bind with anything else other than it's own Rx.
IMO the bf8 is a very poor copy of a quality Tx, no where near as good as a DX7 but looks very simular. Chopping the DX6 for one is not such a great idea, I do think it has some nice fetures though like a factory standard back light display for one and the way it auto rebinds to the Rx every time you power it up.

The tranny is a rebadged walkera and so I supose you could use walkera RX's with it as well as the buzz fly type.
Also I think you'll find it's aimed at the micro electric market far more than the nitro as there is no option to add a satellite Rx and I've been told by an importer that it is'nt suitable at all for nitros.

Guess i should have said earlier my opinion is based on owning both trannys (BF8 & DX7) not just having read bits of info.

I was thinking "Running a nitro with Walkera electronics? Do you juggle knives for relaxation, too?"

I personally dont juggle knives for a hobby, and have no intention of starting (do have a friend who juggles axes, but he is just a muppet!!!)

I have never had any experence or heard much about walkera electronics! ... I was a little wary given that there was no sattelite RXs, although some of the full-range futabas the guys use at my local club also dont have sattelites (both helis and planes!!)

I will stick with the DX6i for now, I will have to keep my eyes open for a JR DSX9 then!!! 1 extra channel isnt enough for me to warrant the extra money for a DX7!!!

              Thanks very much

How do you control the 8th channel?

If it were a DX7 the button that normally controls the hovering trim is Aux3 on & off, I've not tried but assume you can program some sort of mix so that it automatically makes use of it as well.

I got my BF8 with a Buzz 3D, so it arrived pre prgrammed for the heli.
Jon at Buzzflyer is a friend of mine and has tried to convert me to the BF8 on more than one accassion and eventually gave me mine to show me how good it is. It is brilliant value for the money but just not as brilliant as a DX7.
