  • Tempted with a DX7, But...

    I love my Futaba stuff.

I had a look at one today, i'm not really keen on the look and I think it will be like starting all again in as far as programing it because i'm so used to my 9C.

I do like the size of the rx's there tiny and no antenna to worry about, glitches will be gone, no waiting for a spare freq et etc

Do I go for one or wait for Futaba

cab you convert me to a DX7 and sell my trusty 9C

    Simon.

Spektrum may well release a module for Futaba transmitters, thats what happened with the Rc surface based stuff

I like the whole system a lot and recommend it

I now have 3 spektrum equipped models

I just got one to try in the Logo14 which has had a couple of glitches recently and will try the micro receiver in the Mini Titan. The tranny looks to be based on a fairly basic JR set, but with heading lock gyros, governers and electric ESCs, lots of the complicated mixing functions seem to be mainly redundant now so I don't think it'll be a problem. And with the whole thing being so cheap, it seems a no brainer to try it.

I have 3 models using Spektrum Gear now all electric and there for once glitch free - using the ar7000 rx in a Trex600 - ar6100 rx in a Zoom and a ar6000 in a Shock Flier.
Got them to try the range of Rx's - and on reflection I think the ar6100 rx is boy for all small stuff as it's lighter and smaller than the ar6000 Park Flier by a mile.

I'm intrigued by it as I think it's the future (Garlic bread?

However, I don't need a new Tx currently as mine does everything I need, and very well too, so unless it dies sooner rather than later, I'm holding off spending for the sake of it.

My main reason outside of that though, is that if it is the future, then JR and Futaba are bound to go down that route too, and then it might be time for me to update

          Cheers,

            Hi,

Is the AR6100 rx ok to use in Mini Titan/Trex size heli's ?

I know that with the AR7000 rx it's two receivers and they have to mounted so the antenna's are opposite, but does it matter which way the AR6100 is mounted being as it's only one rx ?

            Simon.

I'm using to the AR7000 duel Rx in my Trex 600 and on all larger Models and the AR6100 in the Zoom / Trex 450 size heli's - no problem there both DSM2 Rx's which I understand have full range capability. I think the only worry with the 6100 on big models is, it's possible to screen the rx hence I prefer the duel Rx .

I've got one of these in the Mini Titan. Flew it yesterday till it was a dot in the sky. No problems.

theres going to be a lot of changes over the next 12months and the dx7 is just the tip of the iceburg.

i was tempted for a while but after playing with one the software is no better than a ff7 and worse in some aspects.

I want it but I'm not prepared to downgrade my radio to get it. I'll wait until the modules arrive and let the early adopters spunk their DX7's away for peanuts when they can get modules for their real radios

They are not releasing modules according to Horizon hobby,,they did with 3channel on surfave based stuff but not with air based..

Rumour is there is a big announcement soon jointly by JR and Spektrum RC

Dont understand the problem with the DX7,,i have an X Box 360 to play games on,,,all i need the Tx to do is have 2 sticks in the right place and enough channels and features for my needs

I am selling my PCM10S,,,,dont use any of the functions that the DX7 doesnt have,,in fact i dont think there are any,,,,

Once you fly on 2.4 gig and feel the locked in model,,35meg is $hit basically

Yeah but I'm not fussy... I'm quite happy to settle for something better than Spectrum

Trouble is the modules are propietary, so you have to buy all new RX for it as well. So early DX7 adopters are likely to stick with them rather than upgrade all the RX again.

2.4 gig is 2.4 gig whoever makes it,,sure there will be other brands but no different than PCM JR and PCM Futaba not being compatible

I will stick with Spektrum and there system,it works for me and its cheap,,,

I know i can nip off and fly my T Rex 600 in a park or somethin and nobodys gonna be shooting me down,,,id pay double what the DX7 cost me for that piece of mind
