  • hitec aurora 9 ?

Well today was bored so thought I would wander to the LHS and get some plugs and some gyro pads .. While I was there was looking at the Tx's and Dave who works there said before you decide have a look at one of these so out the cabinet he got it and I had a look .. Turned it on and all I can say is wow !!! full touch screen thats quick and menus that make futaba/spekky look like rubbish ... I did not even read the manual for it but its soo easy to program it's out this world .. Whilst I have been a futaba man since I started this radio is sooo nice and it feels alot nicer in the hands than the futaba 10,12 and also the spekkey 9 .. dunno bout 12 as never held one ... the sticks feel nice and you dont have to take the Tx to bits to set the tensioners ... and when he told me the price of it .. £280 or thereabouts with 7 channel tx ... Well after reading some more about it am waiting for it to be in stock here and will be changing over to it ... Now I dont normally like moduled radios this one is very neat and tidy in the way it is done ... New kid on the block looks a serious contender for a slice of the pie ... Any one else had a look or play with one of these ???Me am sold lol....Will be a futaba Tx and some Rx's for sale next year

Haven't seen it in the flesh but it definitely looks pretty amazing feature wise for the price and I'm kind of tempted to get one to replace my DX7. Did you get the lowdown on the forthcoming telemetry system as well that will be an optional add on to this radio? It is a slight shame about the fact that it's modular though.

yeh app the telemetry stuff is due for release next year .. the rx battery monitor is already in with it as far as am aware and works with the current Rx it ships with ....I had a play with em all today at the shop ( radios that is ) and this thing blows em away ... took em a while to release something different tho .. which is a good thing sometimes ...TBH i dont normally like modules but its very nice and neatly done so if they change it in a few years to whatever you just bang a new module in ... what gets me the most is the price of it .. been looking across the pond and its had some good reviews as well ..

There is one of these in our club but I've not seen it yet.
We have a bloke who buys every new thing going and then sells it a month later. Pity he only flies fixed wing!

I was looking at either the 10cg or a spekky 9 .. it was only by accident that i got the chance to have a feel and play with one of these in the shop ... they feel very nice in the hands as well ... not plasticy at all and nice rubber hand grips on the back as well ... I support my LHS and aint in a rush for one so will wait till they got em in ...

According to the blurb- it's a AFSHH- is that hitec's version of Futaba's 2.4 system or another way to use the 2.4 frequency??

So far we have at least 4 different 2.4 systems that I know of (that includes Graupners iFS system ) and none of them are compatiable with each other!!
                    Where does it end??

its channel hopping like futaba's system is ....I think it would have been nice to use other Rx's with your Tx but sadly they aint gonna want it .. mind you futaba are bringing there Rx's down in price and another 2.4 system with cheap rx's is a plus ... only time will tell on this system ... but cant wait to try it

Like you,I'am thinking of changing over to the Hitec unit, my dx7 is now approaching 2yrs and looking a bit tatty, shame as I've got around 10 spektrum rx's ranging from park flyers to full range units.....

brought up a thread on the hitec Aurora 9 a little while back.. and it looked like nobody liked the look of it.. nor would trust the hitec.

Anyway.. I'm just waiting for my local model shop to get one in.. It may tempt me once seeing it in the flesh... With the receivers being pretty cheap, it would not cost me alot to convert my helis either.

I've had a look at this Tx in Midlands Mike - it's a very well featured Tx, probably got a lot more on there than most people are likely to use or need - but that's not a bad thing!!

Looks good, feels good, and the price is excellent!

                            I'm sure you'll love it
Not sure if I saw pink sticks for it though?
                            Cheers,

Yep like wise Rob had a good look at it while in Midland Heli and it's got everthing you would ever need feature wise and feels a very nice radio in hand. I am very tempted myself for the price, think they should have gone for the higher resolution and intergraded antenna from the off though.
                              Cheers
