AR7000 woes - please help!

Guys,

My AR7000 came back from HH today following an aerial fix. I only sent the main body (not the satellite receiver) and they upgraded the software whilst they were at it.

I have just gone to re-fit it to my Raptor and we have a problem. At first the satellite rx light came on solid, but the main AR7000 didn't have any indication light at all. I thought I'd better re-bind it but no joy:

Basically I've connected up the battery (known to be good) and fitted the bind plug and none of the lights come on. There is a momentary blink as power is applied and taken away, but nothing else. I can't get the rx to bind or do anything meaningful.

The DX7 manual isn't helping at all: can you? Or is it a case of return the rx and satellite rx back to HH for another repair?

I had a problem with an AR7000 that simply refused to bind and that was hot back from HH following a software upgrade.

I'm sorry to say that I think you may need to send the lot back to them.

I'd send both bits but do let this thread ride a while longer. I'm no expert on the AR7000, just stating personal experience. Someone else may know a quick fix.

I'm sure HH will sort you out in quick time if you do return it.

The envelope is ready, but I'll need to post it at the post office tomorrow, so thats 12 hours of collective RCHA expertise still to go. HH were outstanding in their turn-round time, though.

Have you tried to bind without the satellite attached?

I'm sure when I sent a receiver back to HH for the quick connect firmware they asked for "BOTH" receiver and remote satellite receiver sending.

Updating one obviously doesnt work.

You're absolutely right Tim,

I sent my AR7000 for an update (without the satellite) and got it back with a note saying that they both need to be updated for the firmware to take effect. So i sent the satellite back to be updated.

It still worked though Although when i did a disconnection test.. the re-initiation process was not as instant as the matched updated pair (obviously )

i sent my ar7000 back to hh and they updated mine but i never sent my sattelite and mine worked ok but what i will say is ive purchased another sattelite and have added this and still had no probs rebinding.
i would send urs back like the others have said just to make sure all is ok

This work around may help you. Plug the the bind plug in to the batt terminal on the rx then connect the batt/bec to the say the throttle connection on the rx this should work. If it does then just connect the batt/bec to the batt terminal as normal

Not realy a work around just the proper way it is supposed to be done.
Did not work on my 7000 tho and dont think it will work on any that flash
for a mille second when powered up with the bind plug in.
I have 2 units that need to go back to HH at the moment.
It's all well and good that they have good customer service,
I just wish i didn't have to keep using it every other week when their products fail to bind.

Mike, many thanks for the suggestion. Tried it, and several other variations, but no dice. Back to HH then!

I have 2, shortly to become 3 or 4 EDF jet models and only 2 AR500 rxs. My plan is to swap the AR500s around as the mood takes me (not at the field, I'll decide on the day which models to fly and set the radios accordingly). Am I letting myself in for a heap of trouble with repeated swapping and re-binding or am I taking this AR7000 experience too seriously? I've not had any problems with the spektrum gear before.
