    Hi All

I'm giving some serious thought to upgrading from my DSX9 to a DSX12. I used to fly with a futaba 12FG and although I felt there was too much in the radio for what I needed, there were a few functions I missed when using the 9.

So, are there many DSX12 users on the site and could they give me their opinion on the set? There are a couple of functions on the 12, that I'd like, but I really need to prove to myself that the extra expense is worth it.

hi ant i have a dsx12 and i love it to bits i payed to dolla for mine but now they are down in price so grab it while its £300 cheaper.
i switched from futaba to jr and i whent for this model and ive never regreted it. i just purchased an airwolf and the retracts where well fast and on the 12 i slowed them down i know this is not a main reason to buy one but i never brought mine for this reason i was just there when i needed it the same as all the other functions. a few guys at our club have the dsx9 and there is a few diffrences between the two.
i think the real reason for the price is the functions it has for all types of models not just helis but it is a really nice bit of kit you can also sell your dsx9 to fund the new 12.

      Hi All

I've sold my DSX9 and am now in the process of ordering my DSX 12. I've been looking at prices and Inwoods are doing the Tx, NiMH and case for £1099.99. However, I have also seen the same tx on Probuild's site for £995.00. I've heard and read quite a few things about the set Probuild are selling and these are being sold without the McGregor badge. Probuild say these are legitmate, but there is a statement on McGregor's site saying otherwise. I've also heard that people arriving at comps with the Probuild sets were not allowed to fly.

Has anyone dealt with Probuild or heard of any problems with their radios?

At the 3D Champs the Probuild stand was next to the MacGregor stand, classic piece or organisation Probuild had a copy of the certificate for the JR radios they're importing at the back of their stand, blown up so it was about 6ft wide and 4ft high. I have seen nothing, other from MacGregor, to say that Probuild's imports aren't legal for use in the UK, Probuild say they are and back them up with certification.

As far as Probuild imported sets not being allowed in comps, I couldn't say - maybe some sort of statement from the BMFA would be useful.

          Hi

As a long time JR user i believe that Macgregor keeps prices high. This is my opinion.

Pro-Build have released a statement about there 2.4 sets and i would buy one from them.

As pro-Build sets are CE certified then they are UK legal. I've never heard of anyone not being allowed to use a Pro-Build set.

          Regards

                  Hi Guys

Thanks for the info. I spoke to Probuild at the Hop Farm show and they said they were legal. However, I read on a couple of forums that there appeared the have been some issues with their sets, so just wanted to make sure if I bought from them I wouldn't end up with a red herring.

Their prices are the best and, unfortunately, that's the main deciding factor in these times.

You may run into problems with places still following the old BMFA mantra of needing to say 'MacGregor' on the front but the sets are UK legal.

The only lingering question really is will JR go the extra mile to shut ProBuild down on grounds of copyright infringement as has been the case with 'grey' or 'parallel' imports in other markets, Sony for example went down that route.

Even if they did it wouldn't affect the sets you already own, just servicing I guess, but if JR were going to try that I'd have expected them to move before now.

Had a long chat with Probuild this afternoon. Firstly their sets are legal to work in this country. Probuild submitted 2 x DSX12's and 2 x DSX9's for testing earlier this year and then extra testing later. I questioned the use at comps, fly-ins etc and was told that at Charmouth, MacGregor were running the Tx pound and refused pilots with Probuild sets even with the proper documentation. Macgregor said the sets transmitted at a higher power, but this was tested in front of them and it was found that the power output was well within the stipulated limit. MacGregor were still not convinced until the back covers were removed from each supplier's tx. There were no differences to be seen. Only after this the tx's were allowed.

Probuild assured me their sets come from Japan and the only difference was that they did not have a Macgregor badge. They are fully covered warranty wise and there is after market support as well. It seems the there are no problems with JR Japan only with MacGregor, although Probuild have nothing in writing to this effect. This could also be due to the fact that the techies who repair Probuild's radio gear all ex MacGregor.

This was all from the guy I spoke to at Probuild. I did not get his name so this could all be BS. However, it seems they do not have a lack of clientèle as they only have mode 1 DSX12's left in stock

So, I either wait for new stock to come in (no delivery date specified), or I look around and get the best deal on a Macgregor set.

I think some of it is BS as I went to both Charmouth flyin's both day's at the early year event and sunday at the last event. Unless a few on here tell me other wise.
Saying that I would buy from probuild as the prices in the uk are to much think it's time to get Jr stuff at the best price we can.

If true that's shocking behaviour. Do they really think they know better than the certifying body?
