  • Sticks reversed!

    Hi,

I have just brought a DX7se to replace my dx6i. My main model is a Msh Protos so I have manually moved all the settings across. However after binding the tx to the rx and testing I have a strange problem.

The throttle/collective moves the swash plate like I'm asking for back elevator and when I use the elevator stick it moves the swash up and down! I have it set up as 3 servos, 120 and no other mixes. I have not touched the protos except to rebind. It is a mode 2 tx.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

You need to go into the 'reverse' menu on the DX7 and reverse the relevant servos.

      I assume you bought a mode 2 and not a mode 1 or 3?

Sounds like the Tx is running in Mode 1 rather than Mode 2, i.e. throttle on right stick whereas mode 2 (the common mode in UK) has throttle on left stick.

On most Tx's it is possible to swap modes.

Top diagrams in that threas Martin

Never yet met anyone who uses mode 3 or 4 though...

Then of course there is Curtis Youngblood who flies his own mode with rudder on the twist of the right stick.

I don't think it's the wrong mode, it's as Paul (Sacko ) said, the servo(s) need reversing. It may also be necessary to reverse one or more of the swash mixes. I had this when I got my 500 from Tim. He used a DX7, I had a DX6i, and it WAS different. A bit of head-scratching, and some reverses, and all OK.

If the right (elevator) stick moves the swash up and down then it is acting as the collective (as its CCPM). Surely this means it must be running as Mode 1?

I could be wrong but it fits in my head

By co-incidence I had exactly the same thing happen today when rebuilding my Trex 600 . I hadn't touched the transmitter (Futaba as its happens) but accidently had swapped around channels 1 (aileron) and 6 (pitch) when I plugged them back in the receiver and it gave the same result as yours!

Since I knew only these two could be wrong since the rest were labelled swapped the two around in the right plugs and alls fine. I was going to logically analyse how it could achieve such a result by just mixing up the two, but decided to watch the MotoGP qualifyiny instead.

Looks like you have a similar problem where aileron and pitch are transposed.

                Cheers Blade

No, Rob, just reversing/mixing up channels can have the same result, Believe me, been there, done that. The OP also states it's a mode 2 he's bought.

Sounds as though elevator needs to be reversed.

i.e. if collective is giving back elevator movement, elevator servo moving in wrong direction. If elevator giving collective type movement, reversing elevator direction will cure it. Makes sense if you think about it

Thanks guys - once I reversed the servos it was fine. I was just confused because on my dx6 it wasn't reversed! Seems to be playing ball now!

Use channel rev to get the pitch moving the right way. Then use the swash mix +&- to get the swash plate movint the right way.
