  • keep the Hitec Eclipse 7 QPCM or not?

the above radio is currently twinned with an FM receiver. so i plan to change the receiver for a Hitec HPD-07RH QPCM, but is it worth upgrading the setup in this way or should i maybe sell the existing TX and RX in favour of a completely different brand?

PCM Rx is a good upgrade.

If you can afford a better setup upgrade both there are good setups from both JR and Futaba that are better than the 7 but if it's working for you and you don't need the extra features just go for a new Rx.

End of the day depends how deep your pocket is, a better Tx/Rx is always nice to have

I have decided to say nothing about a product when its bad it only gets me in trouble...

so heres me saying nothing :-)

      futaba 7c is miles better
9c and JR 9x are probably the best value.

        Adam,

If really is because the Tranny is the problem sell it and the receiver on ebay.
Job lot. I have a 7c for sale 85 pounds as I have at last got all my models into the 9c. you would need to buy a receiver though.

Oh got an FF8 for 50 pounds I have just started using it again for winter flying planes but its a great Tranny and has the orange book thats better than the manual. It does have a broken switch though and I would want 50 pounds for it. Switch can be replaced.

I stoped using it to the pain of CCPM with it and bare that in mind its not great for CCPM where the 7c actually is better for CCPM and easier to use.

I have a 7c picked it up for £95 (transmitter and battery only) and its a super transmitter. I would say - if you can afford it go for the 9c, if not the 7c is great. Even I managed set it up for 120o CCPM and i have no idea what i am doing lol

The main thing is consider what you want to fly in the Future so a CCPM machine the 7c wins. The FF8 feels better in the hands and has 1 extra channel. but broken switch.... FF8 has upto 16 models I think.. It has a extra model memory in it.

I will also include a set of Crystals the TX and RX for futaba. If you get either set from me.

                    hmm

Revo is VERY limited and almost useless in this radio as you cannot have a heading-hold and a non-heading-hold condition; however, revo is rapidly coming to an end as more and more pilots go to strictly heading-hold flight.

is this the same heading hold as Gyro heading hold? on my Hitec i can flip a switch on the Hitec to switch the Gyro between the two modes?

                      Gyro's

are either Normal Rate where the tail will weather **** and then theres Heading Hold.

Futaba Trannys can set remote gain for either and switch between modes. Heading Hold just means its one less control for a beginner to think about but as you progress you will find that normal mode is good for flying around. If you goto Scale then normal rate is more likly to be used as its more realistic.
