  • Love my DX7!

    Hi guys

Just completed setting up my 500 to work with the DX7.

I used the allen key swashplate levelling to get that right, set-up my gyro gain to 65% using the GEAR travel adjust, set the pitch curves to give me -2, 0, +10 degrees, set the throttle curves to 0, 40, 80, 80, 80.

I also set auto expo to 10% and I have to say she hovers a treat! It seems smoother than with the DX6i. Perhaps it's just me?

I'm loving this Tx already! It also flies my little mCX a treat too!

Well, with the DX7 I could not find a way to program a single switch to turn on or off the expos set for AIL, ELE and RUD. You have flick all the switches on and, as the RUD D/R switch is also throttle hold, I didn't wanna do that.

So you can enable a setting on the DX7 that applies the expos set to any given D/R switch position to the flight mode position. I have simply set the NORMAL flight mode to include 10% expo to all three channels.

If you read page 81 of the manual, it tells you how to do it there.

It's a little odd because you can program a switch to control all three in ACRO mode on the DX7, but not in HELI mode. Christ knows why...

That's what I was told was the art of flying real helis, by a real heli pilot:

"You waggle the controls about a bit, watch what happens and remember what you did. Then, when you want to move like that again, you just repeat whatever made the heli move that way last time. Simple!"

Absolutely. Then we go to Fast Lads and let them sort out the mess for us

Love the DX7,i have had mine must be 2 and a half years now and dread to think how many hours running it has done.

It has not missed a beat and i dont forsee needing more than 7 channels and the Tx is more capable than i would ever hope to be in a million years.

To add i have not had a single issue with the Spektrum system.

Rudder Expo? do people really use this? I can understand pitch and roll but not rudder - certainly not enabled on my Tx I fly both rate and HH depending on a Tx switch position and I have never found the need for expo.

Glad you are getting on well with the DX7 - I would like to make the move to 2.4GHz but funds just wont allow it so for the time being I will stick to 35MHz and my faithful old 9C, fancy a 10CG when I do make the move though

                        Got 20% in my rudder.

Don't use expo in anything else though.

Flying 3D requires some aggresive work on the TX on certain manouvres.

Sometimes when stirring the sticks its all too easy to feed some rudder input when not required resulting in some sloppy flying.

                        Just my thoughts.

There is a DR combination setting in the system menu. Choose whichever switch you want and all three work off one switch. saves having to change expo on all three flight modes if you ever decide to up/down it

If you have ever used a GP750 you will understand the need for expo on rudder. Those things are real twitchy around centre stick. Thats what I have found anyway.
