I've just bought a case for my Tx, and its got this block of foam which is divided into 1cm squares all the way down the foam. Now, I've never tried to do anything like cutting out the foam to fit the Tx, so any pointers would be appreciated.

Gently tear out the squares you don't need with your fingers.

Tip - put the Tx over to ones side (i.e. not in the middle) so that you can tear out additional pockets for accessories like neck strap, battery checker, buddy box leads etc etc.

If you go a bit mad and pull out sections that you didn't mean to by mistake then they can be glued back in with PVA glue.

I found by drawing round the TX on the underside of the foam to get a rough idea of what I needed to remove, made it alot easier.

I put my tx firstly on top of the foam to see where it was going to be best placed. I then moved the tx up a few rows and plucked out the blocks to the right width. I then just proceeded to pull out a couple of rows at a time and started checking when I got close to the final few rows. I left blocks in that are between the switches and aerial on top of the case. I then pulled out a single line for the aerial to sit in.

They call this pick and pluck! No cutting required. I have a 1450 Pelicase.

Take out all the foam & place it in the bin, then find the nearest computer hardware shop and ask if you can go thru their bins, they will have tons & tons of good quality foam of varying density. Dell & HP have some great colours too!
Get a marker pen and mark round the Tx then get a long bladed craft knife and saw thru following the line.
It's much sturdier and lasts way longer than the squarey foamy stuff!
