if starting from scratch go dx7 its a better radio than the 6
and the model match is a great idea (although you don't need it is a great step forward in safety)
and the rx's will work with the jr 2.4 tx's if in the future you wish to upgrade the tx

      i've nothing againt the futaba
i run futaba on 35mhz and will go fasst 2.4 whenever i change over (i'm looking at the 10cg)

but i think the dx7 is a better radio than the futaba 6 and 7 channel 2.4
      i've programed the dx6,6i,7
and the 6ex,7c for a few club members

i also don't like the battery set up in the dx6 4x aa bats in the back, sorry thats asking for a problem

I agree that the DX7 is better than the DX6i, but the 6i also has modelmatch. Also, it's a very simple mod to fit a Lipo to the DX6i. Pipistrelle on here has done a brilliant step-by-step - http://www.rcheliaddict.co.uk/transm...battery-4.html

So, if you can afford it, get a DX7, but if not, a DX6i ain't that bad.

I don't know the Futaba, but I am very happy with my DX6i. (until I can afford a DX7 )

Perhaps one other thing to consider, the agents for Spektrum are Horizon Hobby, and they just can't be beat for customer service. I won't bore everyone with the story again, but have a look in good sellers on here. HTH.

i know you say you cant afford the dx7 but it will cost you more in the long run as you will want to get a better tx. if you want to go down the jr-spektum route then i would go for the dx7 its and extra £100 and has more fatures thean the dx6i and the extra channel. but if you really cant wait to save the extra money then i would get the futaba set over the dx6i.

the roller failing mainly... they may have fixed it now but there was alot of people reporting general faults with it not so long ago
                      cheers Lee

As Lee says the roller that scrolls through the menus is pants Brian.

The DX7 is a much better buy any day of the week.

Wait until you can afford it mate, We can't all be wrong in our assumptions.

Plenty od DX7's making around £100 second hand if you search.

Thanks, Lee and Tim. A DX7 is on my "to buy" list, but as you may know, I've had the odd bit of expense lately to rebuid my heli.

If you are interested in a DX6i I will be selling mine when I get home (2 weeks time) I have upgraded to a dsx9, the DX6i is 1.5 year old, light use, no scratches or any damage and did not have any of the stick faults as it was before that batch. I have had no problems or faults with it, I have been running it with a lipo fitted and will be looking for £50, if interested pm me. It is Mode 2 (throttle/tail on the left)
