Thats what I thought but then how do I set the on/off switch? Currently I'm using the switch function within the gov menu as the on/off but keep thinking that this can't be correct.

If the value is set to 0% is that not off and anythin other than that is on (at the corralating RPM) ??

      So if say 75 = 1700RPM and 85 = 1800 RPM for example

      NORMAL (rate 1) = off = 0%
      IDLE1 (rate 2) = 1700 = 75%
      IDLE2 (rate 3) = 1800 = 85%

        Pete.

Been sat here reading about your woes in this thread with your TX and fully understand you love the Futaba setup but Ive never in my life had such troubles getting round the menus in my JR/Spektrum radio's.

Richard H has the same TX as you and whenever he wants help adjusting values on his heli I'm totally lost with his too.

Very nice radio but a total nightmare getting your head round the system.

        Good luck mate.

The only other thing is in the manual you can use chn 8 for the on / off of the GV1, no idea how that relates to the Align unit though.

Try the "ATV" at 0% and see if that turns off the govener.

On My MZ, i disable both the gyro and gov function and swap overe to two aux channels....much more simple for me..both on two way switch's both simple to change in the atv channel,im sure i could use the gyro/gov function, buts it's just the easier for me.

Ok guys, I have gotten to the bottom of this. I thought I was right with my setup to begin with as I know my way around this radio so I tried another governor. It turned out everything worked as it should with a different governor so the original is faulty.

For anyone using the 12FG heres how to do it:

Plug the 3 wire plug into the throttle channel (CH3 on 7/8 channel Rx and CH6 on Multi Channel Rx) and plug the yellow lead into CH7 (this goes for all Rx). Forget channel 8 on Multi Rx, it wont work properly.

Do NOT assign a switch to GOVERNOR or GOVERNOR2 in the FUNCTION sub-menu.

Now, go to the GOVERNOR screen. Assuming you have set normal, IU1, IU2 and hold in the CONDITION SELECT screen you will be able to toggle through all three flight conditions using rate1. I use switch SE as my idle up switch. Flick the idle up switch through each screen on the GOV menu and change INH to ON.

So, we now have our idle up switch running the GOVERNOR menu. In order for the governor to work you then enter a figure in the % window above 50%. (I'm running 82% on my 600N which equates to 2150 headspeed).

Next is scroll down to SWTCH and assign a spare switch to this function. I use switch SD as my ON/OFF switch. Flick through each flight condition and assign the same switch for normal, IU1 and IU2. Then go into the on/off menu and make it look like this for each flight condition:

              ON
              OFF
              OFF

Now you will be able to turn the governor on and off using a dedicated switch and have normal, IU1 and IU2 set within the GOVERNOR menu.

Keep the group setting as SNGL. Also, the unit function must be set as a % as the rpm setting only works with the GV-1.

If you then turn on the governor the light will be green until you toggle the assigned ON/OFF switch it will go red indicating governor off.

Thats pretty much it. Seems complicated but in practice takes a couple of minutes and works great.

              Cheers
              Pete
