  • DX7 range issue...

    Align 450 SE V2
    DX7 (fully charged)
AR6200 with aux receiver. (both at 90 degrees to eachother)

Went out last night for a few circuts with my BRAND NEW 450, took off, hovered a bit then started some large wide circuits.

At the furthest point (50-75 yards) my 'Rex just flew off! No control. Initially I thought I'd lost orientation but there was no response, just then it threw in a few pirouetts...

I immediately held the DX7 up above my head and regained control, flew it back and landed.

Rest of the evening was OK (did'nt fly too far away)

Anyone had this issue. Aerial positioning on 'Rex or TX comments / suggestions please.

The beauty of owning a Spektrum set is that Horizon Hobby offer a superb back up service. I am sure if you call them directly and explain what happened they will service your set FOC. The turnaround (from my experience) is 48 hours, so you will not be without it for long. Will be great peace of mind too.

Never had what you have described with a 2.4 radio, just get it checked out is my advice.

Apart from some thing being faulty the only thing l can think of is static but l`ve only ever heard of it once before on a 450.

There are 2 power setting on the Dx6I for use in different parts of the world, probably the same on the DX7. Worth a look?

My first thought was static too: happened with my GL450 and AR 6100 / DX7. It could have been co-incidence that the system re-conencted as you held the tx up hgh. That said, static isn't range-related so if the heli flew okay afterwards then this may not be the case.

When flyng closer to yourself do you get any heli twitches or does the heli land with the rx light flashing?

DX7 can not be changed like the 6

Not that then. Does the Dx7 have the same range check that the dx6 has? Should be fairly easy to find out where the problem is ie tx or rx.

Never had a 6 but the 7 is 30 paces with the button held in.

Was the Tx aerial pointed at the heli? We've had a few range issues on planks using spektrum gear with the aerial pointed at the Rx. Try turning the Tx aerial so its 90 degrees to the Tx and not pointing straight at the model.

Strangely, we have had 3 incidents of lost models in the last week, all on 2.4 and all in the same area of the field. Some of the guys got so freaked out they have gone back to 35 meg.

Complete loss of signal, followed by the loss of the model!

Thinking about it the 2.4 receivers don`t like a low voltage. Might be the bec.

The wire to the tx aerial on Paul.GT's DX7 came off some how about a month ago - so worth a check too I guess. He nearly stacked his 500 as a result but got it back.
