  • Futaba F7C voltage

    Hi,

to all F7C users, what sort of voltage reading do you get on the display when your battery is fully charged ??

I am using the standard TX pack and the charger that it's supplied with and I have no idea if it's fully charged or not..

Last time I got 11.1 volts but I don't want to just leave the charger on for hours and hours as I am not sure if it cuts out of not.. and the manual basically tells me nothing.

    cheers

When you just topup charge they forget
Some chargers have a cycle function charge>discharge>charge...so on.
When done you'll maybe see higher voltage better life from nicad.

Yeah I know they have a memory if you just top up all the time but I do let it get down towards 9v before I charge again.

I might make up a lead so I can charge it using my normal charger do the whole cycling thing but I will have to take the pack out of the TX to do that and I am not sure how long the TX will keep my settings without the battery attached.

Don't know if the memory is volatile or not.. can anyone tell me ??

          cheers

It'll be fine, I usually use my main charger to do the battery and only use the one that came with the tx when I just charge it slowly etc, not lost any settings so far with removing it out of the tx.

I use a Lipo in my TX and I take the battery out to charge it and I ahev left it out for a day or so and the settings are still all there...

cheers guys. I think I will make up a charge lead so I can use my proper charger to cycle it a few times and keep a better eye on it's condition.

                      thanks

if the charger is properly dimensioned, it doesn't hurt Nickel-based batteries if the charging continues for a while. Typically that's a current well below 1/10 C.
The downside is, on such a charger, it will take at least half a day before an empty pack is fully charged.
I'd just leave it on. If you notice the batteries getting too warm, that's a sign that charging should be stopped.
