Has anyone had issues with one of these?

Mine is over a year old and today it just stopped working. Had a few flights this morning with several heli's then the rain started.

Later in the afternoon it wouldn't bind with any of them. It is in a JR 10X.

Tried someone else's module and after rebinding all was fine

I'm wondering whether in the rush to put my gear away because the heavens opened, I took the stubby aerial off and then stuck my tx in its case with it still on. Possibly then leaving it on for a few hours. However as the tx battery is only a 1100mah old NiCd I would of expected the tx to be flat and it wasn't.

Is leaving it on with no aerial harmful to the module as it would be with 35mhz?

Will be sending it off to Horizon Hobby tomorrow for inspection.

With Horizon do you notify them before sending in stuff or just send in with a covering note?

just write a covering note, im sure they will sort it out either FOC or very cheaply, they are superb

I'm fairly sure switching on without an aerial connected is a bad thing, think it says so in the manual and can burn out the RF section. A fellow clubmate had the same problem and sent it back to Horizon and they replaced it FOC.

Arpart from your problem you have had how do you find the module ,
I bought a DX7 but i still have my pcm9x and i am thinking of getting the 2.4 version only its a lot of cash since it went up in price.

module is great, the only issue really is having to screw on the aerial all the time and the fact that the coax connector hangs out at the back

some of my club mates have modified there's but the BMFA don't like it

Have also used it in my 9X2 without issues

As I didn't get a DSX9 when the price was semi-reasonable, and a 12X is way out of my price range the module is my best option because I like the quality feel of my 9x and 10x too much. Can't get used to the lightness of a DX7

I have to say I had a problem with mine on Saturday, on a range test the performance was iffy to say the least, my instructor fitted his to my radio and it worked fine. I have emailed Horizon Hobby and will return to them this week for checking. I have since found out that is not an isolated problem and others have had to send theirs back (my instructor included)

The 600N VBar is done, taking it to Revolution tomorrow morning to get it checked over by Phil T. Should be maidened at Byley on Sunday

Modified my module and never had a problem, there wouldn't have been a need to tinker if spektrum had designed it properly in the first place !
