  • Throttle hold/ Idle up: left or right?

Related to my previous thread, I've used at least 3 transmitters, and they've all had throttle hold in a different place.

I'm aware that there is apparently a difference between UK and US kit, but I'd like to know what the collected wisdom here says it should be.

Not sure what it should be.

..but my DX7 is idle up on the left, TH on the right.

I think you will find that all Mode 2 pilots want the Flight mode switch on the left.

Obviously Mode 1 want it on the right.

I've been used to Throttle hold back left and idle-up front right after flying JR for a number of years. Now I'm switching to the 10C I've allocated the switches as follows, throttle hold rear left, idle-up front bezel right, throttle cut rear right, gyro gain front bezel left, governor switch front left and I'm a mode 2 flyer

It's this way mainly because it's what I'm used to plus I'm still using my 9XII as I can't afford around 8 Futaba FASST receivers at the moment

This is probably another silly question, but... why?

My 9XII (mode 2) has TH on left, flight mode on right and it seems fine. I quite like the idea of TH on the left, so /if/ I ever try an auto, I'm not disturbing my cyclic hand (which generally needs more precision than the colllective hand). I never change flight mode in flight, so I don't really care where that is.

Presumably I'm missing something, because TH right, FM left has stonked home!

Flight mode switch can be then located with the same hand as the collective stick.

            Makes sense to me.

And you want that because you use the flight mode switch more than the throttle hold switch, right? Sometimes I need things spelled out for me

.. Cant really see why it matters, as long as you are comfortable with it.

Its 'cos DX7 is the most popular Tx and it doesn't give much choice...

I figured that might be a strong influence. But they must be doing something right, as most people seem pretty happy with the arrangement.

The first half-decent Tx I got was a DX6 (NOT DX6i). The throttle hold & idleup were the other way round to the DX6I. Wierd! BTW, both mode 2.

My DX6i has TH on rear left and idle up on front right. Im comfy with it, if all goes wrong I have control on cyclic whilest faffing to cut motor on the off chance I can save it.

One question I do have is why spektrum have changed this to apposing sides for the DX7?

See my post before yours. Seriously strange! My rear left on my DX6i is trainer. Front left is idleup. Rear right is TH, front right is rudder d/r.

Really odd! Is there a way to change the programing of the switches so they conform to the dx7 set up?

I only ask as no doubt I will end up switching to a DX7 in the future.
