  • Futaba 10c - Changing throttle from ratchet to smooth

Has anyone done the conversion from having the ratchet throttle and making it a nice smooth one on the Futaba 10c?

I am sure it can be changed but not sure how to go about it.

    Cheers

Did this with my Futaba 6ex. Check over your box again. There should be a little bag with the smooth throttle spring in. Found mine hiding in the top left part of the box.
Then it should be undo screw, change over, screw back up. Job done.

There is a bag with a load of black plastic bits in it but not been too sure as to what they are for. Will have a look tonight.

      Thanks you.

Yeah, I didn't know what that bag of bits were for either. Binned it to see if I needed it. Never have so far!

The spring should be in a bag all by itself. It can curl up really small & is really good at not being found.

Ah ok. Will have a good look for it then as I don't remeber anything else been in the box now. Is it just the spring that causes the ratchets then?

The 6ex plane spring had a notch in it that meshed with the small teeth on the back of the throttle control. The replacement heli spring is smooth, the rest is exactly the same.

I got the heli 10c so it came already done.

Not sure is the 10c like the 12fg ? a quick twiddle with an allen key in the back and its done ? No NEED to open the tranny at all.

but read the manual it'll tell you how to do it

Been through the manual but there is no mention of how to do it. Unless there some kind af ammendum that should have come with it to show how it's done.

done mine on saturday the spring is in the box but you can still feel the notches so i filled mine down smooth then a dob of grease and she will feel much better. some people also put a small piece of fuel tube or heat shrink over the spring to make it stiffer. hope this helps

I got the full set Simon. I know I have a bag of black plastic bits still in there. I just don't recall seeing anything else.

it put heat shrink over the spring and sanded notches off but just heat shrink was enough and maybe a little lube
