Lipo in DX7

Hi,fitted an outrage 3s 2500 mah lipo into my DX7,is there anything i need to do/know?

Is the warning level ok or do i need to reset?

Got to say its nice not to have to charge the darn thing daily

lots use the lipo option in the dx7. just remember not to use the normal wall charger, but a propper lipo balance charger.

My warning is set at around 9v,do i change it or do i just use till then and charge?

I would set the warning at around 9.6V as that would be equivalent to 3.2V per cell which you should not discharge below.

I believe you may need to change the warning level in the service menu's.

Also, replacing the linear regulator with a switching regulator will increase your battery time significantly. The linear regulator is dissipating/wasting the extra voltage as heat.

If you want to do the reg mod this is the one that has been suggested on a few forums. I replaced mine a few month back and it works great. Battery life has increased from the original by about twice as much.

3.3V switching voltage regulator - 7803 replacements

Just a word of advice, don't try to remove the old reg as is suggested in certain threads, just cut the pins and jumper wire the reg to a different location. If you've got reasonable soldering skills it's an easy mod.

the stop flying voltage is actually around 10v as the discharge rate is very slow the voltage in use doesnt drop as much as it would if it was flying a heli.

the drop off from 11.0v to 10.0v takes about 1hour use so you get plenty of warning that its getting low.

on my 9x2 it took about 9hrs to get from fully charged to 11.0v

if this mod is exceptable why do the bmfa ban adds selling the reg mod chip?? and does this mod invalidate any come back to horizon hobby if your tranny goes down??
