Futaba 9c transmitter Lipo question

Just ordered a Flightpower 3s TX lipo, and have read that some people are using 1 or 2 diodes to bring the voltage down from the 12.5V output by the lipo. Is anyone using a 3s lipo in a Futaba 9C super TX and have you dropped the voltage?

Had a lipo in my FF9 without any stepdown for at least a year now!
Know 2 others at the club that also have lipos in FF9's without any stepdown.

Do you and you friends have the Synthersizer module installed in the 9C, as I have done some more digging and the module seems to be the weak point for running at 12.5V?

Anyone else using the 9C with a lipo?
