At the moment I'm using a real combination of:

2700mAh AAs that I got from Digi-Quick for about a fiver for four
2300mAh AAs that I got from Aldi for £1.99 for four

All going well at the mo.

Get a welded pack in there. A lot of clubs have banned the 6i without a welded pack because the contacts can become oxidised and unreliable with constant removal of the cells for charging.

I'm toying with doing the LiPo route, as above.

Is there any info anywhere on the welded packs/LiPo conversions? I know a guy who would be interested in this.

            Cheers

I just took the back casing off and soldered two wires behind the battery terminal, on to the +/-, with 2mm bullet connectors.

Just getting my camera out to take some snaps..

what about the higher voltage from the lipo, does that have ay effect as the dx6i was to run on 6 volts.

Nope doesn't effect it at all.

If you look at the Voltage on the DX6i screen, it goes much higher than 6v.

thanks for the info, this is how i did mine ,the lead is for the lipo batt and if you want to use pencil batts it just sits between the batts as in pic and the cover shuts nice and snug to fit, cheers.
p.s. you have to remove the centre pin on the cover to re-fit.
second pic of lipo in dx6i.
