  • Problem with DX6i

Yesterday I was just about to do some hovering when my motor started running.

I wasnt in throttle hold, but I didnt move the stick and the motor started on its own.

If I go into the monitor the throttle chanel is moving slightly on its own.

I dont have any date sticker on my transmitter?

Is this a sign of faulty potentiomiter?

    I hope not

Try moving all the sticks and watching them in the monitor window (With heli off obviously!)
If you see any jumping then I suspect that you will need to send it back to HH for them to fix.
There has been a service bulletin released for this very problem.

Should the throttle control move equal ammounts to the right and left with mid stick in the middle of the monitor window?

As mine is miles off to the right when the stick is centered.

The cyclic controls are dead centre on the monitor and move equally either side.

Im using my phoenix program to test it, so there is no mixing between chanels.

Or have I got something set incorrectly that has moved the throttle centre position over?

Do you have any trim or sub-trim on the throttle channel?
Do you have a linear throttle curve?
I would expect it to move smoothly with center at midstick if all is normal.
        Adrian.

I checked the throttle curve and it is linear for normal mode in phoenix.

still have some offset at midstick.

When the monitor says its in the middle the stick is almost one marking low on the stick (about 0.8 markings)

When I set my heli up a few weeks ago I followed finlessbobs setup for the head and I checked that midstick was half way on the throttle and it was very close.
Now its not which is whats worrying me.

I have just checked on my DX6i and on my phoenix set up throttle curve is linear, on the monitor my indicator at centre stick is on centre with equal indication left and right. It looks like you have a pot. problem. is the movement on the monitor smooth or not?

There is no ESC involved at this point.
                It just highlighted the problem.

Im now 100% sure I have the potentiomiter fault and I will post the transmitter back to Horizon tomorrow.

I doubt I will get it back soon as its bank holiday.. plus I wont be able to do any flying
                How annoying.

I did read how to fix it and recalibrate myself, but I better keep the warranty incase something else goes wrong!

Holst, My DX6i had no date stickers and was purchased in August at the Nationals. My servo's all went crazy and the motor when the transmitter warmed up. I contacted HH and they gave me a number to quote to FED EX for free shipment back to them for repair. Took two weeks but seems OK now. Noticed with mine that the centre cursur in the curve screens was juddering around as well when fault was present.

This is exactly the same as mine then.

I just called HH and they told me to post if for them to check it out.

Its just a shame that I wont be able to fly or use phoenix until its back.

At least I can fly my 4#3B
