You need to use a Spektrum Rx with the Spektrum transmitter.
You could use either a 6100e or 6200.
The 6200 is a full range rx whilst the 6100e is a parkflyer.
there is a 6200 just come up for sale in the for sale section here £40.

      reciever has arrived

thanks for the help guys but i have another quick question, do i have to use the switch to turn power on and off? (i am sure i have seen guys using helis and not seen any switches on them). also where would be the best place and method of securing this ar6200 in my T-rex 450?
would check instructions for the heli but didnt get any.so bit of hit and miss trying to find info. so thought better ask than be sorry.
      cheers all.

Tons of help and setup info etc on www.trextuning.com.

No switch required, just plug in your LiPo, leave the heli perfectly still for a few seconds to let the gyro initialise and settle, then go fly.

        Cheers,

The AR 6100 is also a good rx - very similar to the AR6100E only with the pins facing upwards. If you can get a good 2nd hand AR6200 then that would be more useful in the long run compared with a 6100/6100E park flyer rx. Fix it on with cable ties or velcro.

            welcome to the forums paul
you may not need a switch , but it will in my opinion make life easier.

why don't you want to use one?

On my 450, I have placed the Rx on the front tray under the battery, or you cud put it on the bottom of the lower frame under the gyro!! During the gyro initialising you here it playing a little 'tune'.....

                thanks folks great.

it wasnt that i didn't want to use a switch it was just an enquiry as to using one against using one. i have the 6200 rx thats sort of 2 rx's in one would it be ok to put one bit under the gyro and the other at the front of the heli above the battery?
also my esc has a BEC??? do i need to use this or can i leav this disconected??

Yes, separate the 2 parts of the rx by a bit and put one of them at a different orientation to maximise your coverage. On a 450 the ESC BEC lead usually does 2 jobs - provide power for the rx and servos and take throttle instructions from the rx to the ESC/Motor combo. So you'll need to conenct it to the THRO channel of your AR6200 unless your ESC is a bit different to the norm.
