  • Setting up a heli with a DX6i

    Hi Guys,

I'm a little confused and could do with some of your great advice please.
I'm trying to setup my ccpm heli with my new DX6i and I seem to have all positive pitch only with zero deg at throttle zero.
When I setup the DX6i I didn't have to reverse any servo's but at the swash mix settings I have to have all -ve values to get the correct movements of all the controls.
Question....are these settings normal, even acceptable or have I missed/ messed up something.
The heli itself has been test flown at least once (with it's original cheap plastic yuccy 35Mhz) so it should be reasonably setup mechanically and hence why I think I've screwed up.
    Any assistance most welcome.

    Thanks in advance

Have a look at the Finless Bob vids which will explain everything about ccpm setup and radio settings.

Providing everything is moving correctly then the settings are irrelevant. Sounds as tough some servos may need reversing tho

Thanks Frazzle, a most informative set of information if I do say so. I think I've got things sorted now though, I deleted the radio setup and started again, following the CCPM videos and shortened the links between the swash and the blades by about 5mm. Allseems to go the right way and I have +-6deg of pitch to play with. Plenty I think for a beginner.

      regards

When I bought my heli from Dashik he had it setup on a different transmitter.

I had to change alot of the link lengths to get it setup properly.

I think its to do with different end points depending on the transmitter.

Indeed it is. My DX7 had the swash plate level at mid stick. However when I got my DX7 replaced under warrenty I then had to redo all my helis again.

This explains why you had to redo the setup

Thanks guys for all your comments. As it's club night this Friday it may even get off the ground (in the hands of an expert of course!) and I'll keep you posted on the results.
            Thanks for all your assistance

Hooray, we got off the ground...eventually after a bit of fiddling around with the links again. It seems reasonably stable, even just a few inches off the ground.
People think I still need more positive pitch as the head speed is around 2500 and throttle nearly full. Still I've got something to work from now.

              Thnaks again for your comments
