  • JR12x Futaba 14mz

Please this is not a which is best question but what are the main differences between these two sets and do any of the lower priced futaba sets offer the same as the mz but fewer channels?

Looking to get a top end tx and finding it a hard choice. At present I have a MZ on loan and love it but it seems so overkill!!

The Futaba 12FG is a good Tranny its 12 Channels 2.4ghz or 35mhz or 72mhz does french 2.4ghz as well.

The 12FG just lacks a colour/backlit screen and for your money its the best tranny out there right now and it'll match the mz any day for mixs and options as well.

It'll use all futabas 2.4ghz receivers and takes an SD card for extra models or updates

the 14mz is a good radio, mines has been pretty good but couple of issues, common ones.

older style screens fail (mines had a new 200 quid screen less than 2 months ago at my expense as OOW, that is also faulty, not a big deal and ripmax are replacing it no probs)

by far the biggest issue imo is the battery. i hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE the piece of crap battery system they have put in it. i've bought 3 batteries in 2 years ish for it. 2 fromecos and 1 original. why they put this crappy battery in a high end TX is beyond me.

i have zero experience with the jr12x so i can't comment but why do i put up with the 14mz you maybe thinking, that is really simple. i don't like the seperate spektrum rx's and the way JR prices are going they can keep it. i was JR for 15 years or so before i got this 14mz and it's a shame they are doing this. they are pricing themselves out the market imo.

      cheers

Right so lets say money wasnt a problem and you could have any TX. What would ya go for? Based purely on how easy it is to use/features/how good it looks/how safe it is/general feel etc etc As i say forget totally about how much it costs.

                  Cheers

                      i can...it sucks ass. lol..kidding.

seriously, if money was no object the dx7 wouldn't even be on my list at anypoint.

spekrum is rumoured to be working on a high end set so that would get my attention.

if money was no object the best radio everything considered is probably the 12fg as it does mostly what the mz will do for less than half the price. the best bang for buck is probably the FF7 2.4 and dx7se for those that don't need a trainer port. if you don't want a lot of functions (i'd miss the swash menus myself) then the current 7ch sets offer good value. but we are talking about 14mz vs 12x so budget is out the window and the visa is coming out to play.

                      cheers
