How best to protect your receiver?

Hi Guys

I was just wondering if you would share the methods you use to;

1) protect your receiver from damage whilst mounted in the model
2) ensure the servo leads stay in place in the receiver

I recall in my plank days that I wrapped my receiver in bubble wrap that served both of the above purposes. However, the receiver on the plank was hidden from view inside the fuselage.

Is there a better and neater way to do it with a heli?

I mount my Rx with velco pads that gives it a nice soft base and then use a velcro strap over the servo leads on the 600 and tie wrap all the servo leads together on the 450 so they all hold each other in.

Mines is wrapped up in foam & then strapped to the tray at the front of my raptor!

I use fishing line to secure my servo leads in after not bothing and having a servo pop out on the knight.

I use velcro straps and a bit of foam to secure it to the battery tray.

You can buy reciever bags with velcro straps around them, pretty sure I saw them on the Revolution Models website

If its the 500 most can go between frames on the Gyro mount.. The Gyro can be sat above or below the tail boom front mount.

A lot depends on your individuial components used and the model.. Things like length of servo leads, C&G etc etc.

For The Rappy as Del suggests well wrapped up is best as protection is limited.. The NHP Velcro pouches with straps quite good.

Trex's I mount with Velcro, 600 are pretty well protected as the canopy is strong and its relative position is kinda safe.

Trex 700 inside one of the sidepods is about best I've seen to date..

Wiring. If your careful and everything is laid out so the leads are not vibrating/pulling or being tugged they will stay OK. Belt and braces fishing line. Or very small dia carbon rod through the leads with a little elastic band looped over each end. In the pic you can also see the NHP Pouch

I attach my RX with velcro then add a small cable tie to keep in place..



Then all my cable are wrapped in spiral plastic...

Thanks Sao...again I'm not clued up on this sort of stuff either, just like cameras..lol.

I switched to IE7 after a reinstall. Since then, I've never been able to open loads of things via links. An examople being the link I posted above from my own gallery. I cant get it to view full size

Another one in Heliaddicts here... the emotions..I cant open it via 'more' and can only select the visible ones on the front page. IE will only open a blank page when I select the 'more' option even if I select 'open in a new window or tab'

I can get around most by right mouse click and select open in a new window...but not all... the above just being a couple examples.

Its got to be something obvious I'm missing..????

1. The link was from RR and that place wont allow you to post direct links so it inserts that symbol in to stop you.

mine is inside a little zip hard case pouch i got with a set of shure earphones (you can see the case in the link)
with foam packed in. it's then held in place with velcro straps
its cool because it allows easy access to the receiver .

Currently too expensive for me, but I picked up a set of SE110's a while back for peanuts (in comparison) which are also very good.

yeah Rob they are superb.
i don't see the point of spending a couple of hundred quid on an ipod to play it through the (lets be honest) TERRIBLE headphones they supply.
they sound awful (if you can get them to stay in your ears that is )
