  • Help with AR7000 Receiver

    Hi guys

Just wondering if there was anyone near to me in Camberley that could help me test an AR7000 receiver.

I'm struggling to get it to bind to my DX6i. I've also tried it with my LP5DSM (that came with the CX2) to no avail.

Before I throw in the towel on it, I'd like to meet somebody to see if they can bind it to their radio and/or show me what I'm doing wrong and perhaps help me bind it to mine.

I'm more than happy to drive to you (provided you're not a million miles away).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

    Martin

    Hi Mart61,
I'm not up your way but to bind the rx you need to do the following.
    1) Insert the bind plug into the rx batt connection (not any other).
    2) Apply power to the Rx through any of the other ports.
The rx lights should be flashing quickly at this point.
    3) Press and hold the bind button (Trainer switch) on the Tx whilst switching it on.
    4) Keep holding it in/on until the Rx light turns solid.
    5) Remove power from the rx.
    6) Remove bind plug from the rx.
    7) switch off Tx.
    8) Switch Tx back on normally
    9) Switch Rx back on.
    Receiver should now be bound.
If it isn't then there is something wrong (faulty Rx).

Thanks Adrian. Doing all of the above. However the main Rx light blinks slowly (perhaps once or slightly more per second) and the satellite Rx blinks like crazy.

Then, when powering up the Tx with the trainer (bind) button pressed, the satellite light goes out totally but the main Rx light continues to blink at the same rate as before.

Sounds like it may be faulty.
You need to hold the bind switch on for quite a while though.
Normally the rx light will turn off then go solid on.
However, both should be flashing quickly before binding while the bind plug is in.

With all my AR6200's when I go through the bind process be it holding down the Trainer switch, of the Bind Button on the rear of the DX6/7 TX's I've only ever had to hold them for no more then five seconds, then realise with solid lights.

Turn off the heli, remove the Bind Plug then it's armed from then on.

After what I have read in this post, you've attempted the correct procedure many times, and it does sound like you have a faulty unit.

Send it back for a replacement mate.

Look at it another way mate, if you get her to work she may well fail on you in flight, then serious damage and safety issues might occur.

Your doing the right thing bud.

Thanks for the advice one and all. In the end the seller, an all round bloody nice bloke, has refunded me the cash and the said AR7000 is winging its way back to him.

Just so you know martin, Horizon have always given me fantastic service, although they are a little inconsistent on their pricing policy, for instance ive sent back a rx involved in a crash and they have repaired it stuck a new case on it and sent it back foc, other times ive had a bill, long as you go in thinking your gonna pay a fair price for a fair bit of work and then they just do the job and send it back then its a nice surprise.

And when it reaches me I will of course try it again and let Martin know my findings.

This RX was sent to Horizon Hobby for the "Quick Connect" firmware update and was sent to Martin direct after it came back.

I'm sure it will be going back again for further testing if it doesnt work.
