  • 12FG expo

    Hi guys

When using expo with the 12FG am I right in thinking I need a negative figure?

    Thanks
    Pete

Pretty sure thats correct Pete. Read the other day it was + for JR/Spektrum and - for Futaba.

Chuck in -20% on your tail and see if you noticie the difference....

Unless the 12FG works differently to other radios, negative expo will speed things up around centre stick - positive will slow it down.

Test it by putting in 100% expo and see what happens to the servos on the bench when you move the stick, then try -100%

Should be interesting...... but will give you the answer you require.

Yep, expo on all Futaba radios is negative if you want to reduce sensitivity in the centre of the stick range.

With your 12FG the on-screen graphs should confirm this is the case by flattening out in the centre rather than going sharper.

Its always been negative on my other Futaba sets to soften up around centre so I'd expect this to be the same Rob. I definitely dont want to speed it up though so any other inputs welcome just to make sure!!!!

Just reading back a few threads, Moyesboy posted that Futaba used a - to increase the expo around the center where as JR used a + value!

Seems quite bizzare if you ask me.. Much like the fact that futaba didnt put a model match feature on their radio. With todays technology, that just baffles me. And Pete knows exactly where i am coming from with that comment!

futaba got it right -ve = less movement
                  +ve = more movement
                  at centre

                  jr got it backwards

That would depend how you think about it... If you think "I want to add some expo" then I guess the JR way is right LOL

I guess I've used the Spektrum (JR) stuff too long now, and forgot Futaba do it the other way around... I don't use any myself so no suprise there

Whichever way is correct it'd all be a lot easier if it was the same for all brands. Futaba and JR/Spektrum can't even agree on the polarity of the charge socket, never mind things like servo directions

Even as a big Futaba fan, I agree totally that +'ve for more expo makes the most sense (otherwise it should be called 'sensitivity').
