  • Heli flying? 10CP or 10CHP?

Would a Futaba 10CP (Field Force 10) be OK to fly 'helis' as opposed to the heli biased 10CHP? .... and how much of a pig will it be to set up?

The 10CP comes with the throttle ratchet installed, there is a smooth one in the box to swap over to give ratchet-less throttle.

Default model is always acro, but there is a campac service module which can change the default I believe.

The throttle when using as a Heli Tx is smooth in that it doesn't move in tiny increments. Plane flyers generally go with a ratchet. Helis require subtle use of the throttle stick to prevent it either climbing/decending hence its smooth.

I just loosened off the ratchet spring screw in my FF7 so it is still very lightly ratcheted but very easy to move.

Acro is just what Futaba call aeroplane mixing mode.

The 10CP is the only one you can buy in the UK - the 10CAP and 10CHP are essentially the same as the 10CP but as said have a different default configuration and are not available here. It was exactly the same with the FF7 and FF9.

Forget the 10CP anyway - you should wait for the 10CG

I never get why plane flyers need the rachett... is it so they actually know what the throttle stick is for ?

Most plankers If there using an MDS engine they would be happy with just an On switch.
