  • DX7 will not switch on....

My DX7 which I have out of the box for only the third time (it has not had any real use) will not switch on. I had not left the switch on or anything but it will just not switch on.
I have never charged it so I suspect the battery could be flat as it only has (factory charge) but I have now put it on charge (the polarity is definately correct as they set it for me in the shop and demoed it for me) - Problem is that it does not appear to be charging - the light on the charger will not illuminate as it did in the shop..the charger is a YES Universal 4

Has anyone had this problem before? Strangely I have had this with my CX2 TX which was replaced by Horizon Hobby.

    Cheers,
    Jack

There's a fuse inside which quite a few people have had blow on them. (Not me). Don't know if it will stop it charging though.

It sounds like the little internal fuse has gone inside the set which is easy to replace.

Not to sure why it has gone though.

Looks like it only charges to 7.2 or 8.4 volts and your tx requires 9.6 So thinks there is your problem. you may have damaged your battery or the charger

They'll never know if you've opened it or not, so crack on. Unlikely that a low charging voltage will damage a battery or charger.

My DX7 came with a duff battery which was replaced by the shop (Inwoods). Could be that.

Hmmm, not very good. They are about 25 mins away so not the end of the world. On the charger it says TX: 11.2V - 150mA - perhaps it is to much and took the fuse but its what I was told I needed for it in TJD Models.

is the polarity the same on the charger as on the transmitter? as it could be for futaba?
which is the opposite to speccy/jr
worth a check as this could be your problem?
could have blown internal 20mm fast blow fuse
                      cheers

Yup fuse is blown - The polarity is set by the instructions with the charger - its opposite to Futaba. Will get on the TJD tomorrow. I wonder if they supplied the wrong charger.

                          Cheers,

Can anyone confirm whether it is ok to charge this tx with a 9.6 NIMH at 11.2V from this charger? TJD says it is ok because that is what the fully charged total is...is this right....doesnt sound it to me!

I will be taking it back on Sunday with the charger to check..

                              The voltage is fine.

A fully charged Tx batt is around 11.2v anyway. The 9.6v is the nominal voltage (mid)
