  • 12FG and Align Governor

I recently transfered my 7C gov menu settings onto my new 12FG. This produced a very low headspeed on my 700 but it ran great using the 7C. Why would this change? Surely a % in the gov menu would give the same headspeed no matter what the radio? Also, will the headspeed function work (setting direct from the radio)? I understand this is for the GV-1 as this governor knows the helicopters gear ratio and works it out from there. Obviously this is not an option on the Align governor.

    Any info appreciated people!

Hi pete, im trying to set up the align gov with my 14mz, and am having the same trouble as you!, i think the figure in the gov menu means nothing? go to your servo monitor screen and look at the reading there,on mine if i have 70% in the gov menu the figure in the servo monitor reads 48%

    Hope this helps

Yeah, I noticed that too Si. Very odd! What do you think about entering the target headspeed directly into the gov menu and not use a % figure? I would have loved to have tach'd it today to see if the figure I input matched the headspeed (need to invest in a tacho!) I know this is only for use on the GV-1 (or maybe the Multigov) but I'm still curious!

Perhaps Pete, i think im going to ramp up the % figure in the gov menu until i have the right % in the servo monitor screen

Good idea. I'll try that too. Blind leading the blind or what!!!! lol

I will try it out and get the head tach'd. I'll post back and let you know, unless of course you do first!

Little update: just checked my servo monitor screen. In idle up 2 its suggesting +92%. Your right about the values in this screen not matching those in the gov menu as the figure here is 89%. Wierd!

I think that the 'trial and error' method is the only way to set up the Align Gov. I had similar problems setting up the 600NSP and, with a baseline provided through a thread on Helifreak, I set mine and then got out the tacho. I ended up with 77% on the gov giving 1900rpm headspeed. This was different to the guy on Helifreak - so maybe no two engine/gov/tx combinations are quite the same??
