Futaba 12FG questions

Hi Guys

I just upgraded my 7C by skipping the 10C and going straight for the 12FG.

Now, I can get my head around most of it but there are a couple of things I cant work out:

• In the Governor menu you can enter either a % or headspeed figure. I am running the Align gov. With the % set at 76 (as per my 7C) the headspeed is woefully low. With it set as a headspeed figure its really high!! Any ideas on that one? (T-rex 700 btw)
• In the Governor and Gyro menu there are 3 rates available which come up when scrolling with the S1 button. Can someone explain what these are/mean and can I program three conditions (norm, Idle1, Idle2) into one rate or must I use all 3?
• What does the second and third pages of the pitch curve menu mean? I have INH them for now.

I like Futaba stuff but this is different to anything I have ever used before!!!

Er Welcome to the 12FG maddness

Right Gyro Settings make sure you GROUP them!!! If you do not Group them you'll take off in HH then switch to idle up and hey presto no HH!!!

Use Group to make sure all settings hold through all modes idle up etc etc

Same applies to the Gov settings

lol, I did that on my first flight with the FG was about a foot off the ground spinning like a top.

One of the knobs on the front is linked to the pitch, you may want to INH that too.

Ah!!! That makes sense as in idle up the tail was drifting!!

Any ideas on the gov settings? Surely the % should be the same as the 7C if I input the figures like for like? Maybe its cos I didnt group them?

been there on the gyro one....spent several weeks trying to work out what was wrong with Trev's G5. Turns out it was Trev's inability to read a manual

LOL!! In Trevs defence the manual is pretty useless. Thank goodness for you lot!!

Hi Mark. Just had a play and i'm not sure about the group setting. What I mean is when you group the Gyro or Gov then all flight modes are the same. Example is in the Gov menu if you select group then all flight conditions have the same headspeed. If you select single you can have different settings for each flight condition. I did the same thing on my 611 and on switching through flight modes the gain does change on the screen.

Did I not understand your post as Ash and Thomas seem to agree with what you suggested?! I think it must be me!!!!

I don't think Trev grouped them, he just set up three different gyro screens. The point was he didn;t know there was more than one.

I forgot to meantion that Trev also said that you can set up:

an offset mix for the gyro and that works rather well.

You need to INH the gyro options in the gyro menu and then goto offset mix add a Gyro one and remember to group it. I use this way for my CSM 720 gyro and for my T-rex 250's gyro.
