  • Dx7, rates, gyro sense and throttle hold

I've been trying to set up the DX7 as close to my DX6i as possible. I'd like to use the same setting as everybody else, if there is a standard way of doing it. I could only use ch5 for gyro sense by setting endpoints and I've used Rudder rate switch as throttle hold as it's in similar position to the DX6i. Is there a single switch I can use for the rates or do people select Norm for low rate and idle up for normal rates? And can anyone recomend endpoints for heading hold.

    Thanks

Sounds like you have it set correctly to me.
I also use End Points to set my gyro gain (channel 5) but you don't have to. If you prefer to use the DX7 built in Gyro menu, you have to switch it on in the first menu (power on while holding down Scroll Down and Select).
If you go to the screen where you set Aux2 and Gear channel functions, you can scroll over to the Gear option and set that to Gyro, which will enable the Gyro menu in the main menu's then.

Hold is on the Rudder D/R switch (top right), so you have that correct too.

You could program mixes to set your rates on a single switch, or on your flight mode switch, or just set them on their own two switches (outside switches on the front of the Tx).

    Cheers,

As I think you've seen, the way that the DX6i & DX7 handle switching between D/Rs is completeky different.

The Auto D/R page lets you set P-0/P-1/INH for each flight mode & throttle hold.

on INH, the individual D/R (rudd, elev, ail) work.

P-0 or P-1 specificies those values should be used in that mode.

I tend to compare rates quite a lot to see which I like best. To do this I'll set up two F.Ms the same, but one P-0, the other P-1; and toggle between them to do the comparison.

I use mixes 1-3 to set various different gyro rates.

It's not as tidy as the end-point method, but far more flexible.

Whereas the end-point method gives one HH & one rate, the mixes can give you, say, two gains per flight-mode, and they could be multiple HHs or some other mix.

Can be a bit of a headache to set-up, but really useful if you want to wind the HH gain up to a value that might cause instability, and be able to toggle it back down before you crash...
