What is Synthesized?

I hope this is not a stupid question but I am looking to buy the JR pcm9x II this comes with a Synthesized module.

I would like to know the advantages of Synthesized and can this be used with a pegboard at meets?

Also do you need a special receiver if so which would you recommend for my t-rex.

If you have any links to some good information it would be greatly appreciated.

In a normal situation you get a crystal for the Tx and one for the Rx, with both being the same channel then you have control.

With Synthesized modules on the TX, then usually with the twist of a couple of pots you can select which channel you wish to transmit on, obviously without a synthesized Rx you will have to ensure that your working on the same channel.

You can get sythesized rx's like the one for the 14MZ where you can remotely change you channel to whatever you want and the Tx also switches to match up. Or again with two pot's on the Rx select the required channel to match up with the Tx.

There is no difference between the normal version i.e. crystals or sythesized when it comes to peg boards. Peg boards are for safety reasons ensuring that only one channel is in operation at all times. However, then you get into issues of resolution where someone for example at my field may without knowing go onto my channel. However, since I have a 14MZ and my signal resolution is 2048, if the other flyer is lower than mine say 1028, then in thoery mine will hold firm and his/hers will clitch like hell.
