With the carbom gliders you want the rx with multiple sat rxs and fit the sat rxs on the outside somewhere. Unless you made a special recess though it'd probably make you feel sick to see a lump on the outside of the slippery fuz.

Flying gliders with spektrum inside the carbon fuz? Does that really work to full range?!

If I understand what your saying mate the AR6200 & Slave are on the top and bottom attaching plate under the boom, with the Ariel's in a "+" formation to one another, so a double glow is seen from the rear, and at the time of radio loss she was tail in, not that it would have made any difference if she'd Had been nose in.

I'm sure the DX6i Tx's are prone to cold damp conditions, a few months back I was flying on the field and my Aileron trim didn't beep or move on every press, yet once back indoors it worked fine.

Last Saturday I flew the 450's within 15 minutes of each other and all was fine, another mate there had problems from the onset with an out of control rudder on two different machines on two separate channels within the DX6i, his TX had been in the cold far longer then mine, and he had to give up flying completely, and the Sunday last he was at the club inside the Hall and flew he's birds with no issues at all, hence why it was a mystery why it couldn't stop the Heli's spinning out of control, when the last time it was used inside on the Sunday everything was perfect.

My TX was sitting on the ground (grass) for about 25 minutes then it was the turn of my T500, all was well for the first 3 minutes, then i started to loose control I got her down with the throttle stick in the down position then without warning the rotas powered up and she went over on her back with disastrous results, new boom, blades, braces, flybar, feathering shaft & main shaft.

I'm positive it was due to the cold damp conditions on the day, I've contacted Horizon Hobby and they want a look at it as the trim situation shouldn't have happened neither should what happened on Saturday.

I'm not saying there all malfunction in the cold, but in the right conditions trouble can happen, as I've experienced it twice, and someone else had to give up completely due to a constant rudder suti'.
There is a service advisory on DX6i's. Some have had faulty pots fitted. I posted the same problem as you a few days ago. There is no warning. My cx2 took off and I caught it. I'm not going to use the dx6i except for the sim. DX7's are ok. Return to model shop or Horizon Hobby.Perhaps important posts could be highlighted somehow?

One thing was certain I was plenty ****ed when it happened, had I been acting the twat I'd have no one to blame apart from myself, but to be completely out of control is another thing.

Right now the expense of replacing the broken parts and buying a new DX7 is just out of the question!

I was very annoyed. I was lucky nothing was damaged but I've been using the DX6i on my twister and I've not seen a model start up for no reason. The only thing I wanted to do was stamp on the tx. Now I have to pay to sort out the problem.

Yea, take it up the arse or ground yourself.

I've had countless flights during mild winter conditions and no probs, as during the Summer.

AR500 has a long antenna lead which I have used in my glider to great effect, it's only 5 chn though so some mixing was required to get the flaperons working, but fine for what it was.

Not had any mega issues with Spectrum, but I am moving to a 10C for more channels as it is cheaper than moving to a DX9 at the moment (though not much with the reciever costs for the fleet).

                    voted yes

just this afternoon took off on second pack went round a few times and just after a stall turn coming sideways form the left i had no rudder control, it was stuck in the heading and wouldnt budge, landed it promptly and went to investigate ......

got to it and the rudder was moving fine, cyclic fine everything fine ,anyway thought bugger it and went home and realised its you guys who jinxed me
never had a problem before i read this thread ; )

anyway i have stripped her down and checked the tail, gears, servos and belt etc you name it and all is well

so now what ?! im assuming its electric fault or the tail got stuck

another thing and i dont know if it was just my reactions but it seemed to nose down at the same time there was no rudder .... could the esc have overheated and the bec failed ??

for now im putting the blame on the radio just in case ; )

Just from my personal experence I wouldn't trust the DX6i on a windless day out on the sports field with the weather we have at the moment with my BCX2.

She's failed me twice, the second time it really hurt, IMHO after what happened to my T500 the DX6i is a pile of shit!!

cambs what happened what was the failure like

im not looking forward to the next flight, today at least i managed to get her on the ground safely as i was right in front of myself not too high up but the feeling of no control which made me sweat is one i would rather leave behind.

honestly i would rather it have been a mechanical failure as at least i could see it and fix it !

Well I voted no, but since then my DX6i has failed me with a sticking elevator pot. I was particularly annoyed with the loss of my three minute old Radix blades.

Can't fault Horizon though, they sorted it and returned it in three days (with a weekend in between!)

It's funny though, a few months back the DX6i was the dog's danglies - now apparently it's sh*t. Hmm, it's amazing how easy it is to lose a good reputation. Personally I still think it's a great tx for the price, but I have to say it's abit unnerving having gear you're not totally sure about

The Heli just shut down in flight, I managed to gained control briefly and got her on the deck with the throttle off, then she powered up to full power again with no throttle or cyclic control whatsoever working on the TX and tipped over and started eating grass.

Another chap there he's controller refused to give him rudder control, and Matt had a couple of flights with no probs, so two out of three DX6i's failed on us.

My 6i failed me before in the same kind of conditions with the aileron trim, and you only have to scout the net with countless stories with the same kind of failures with the DX6i

Apart from Sim practice I'll never trust using it again for real flight purposes.

My conclusion is the DX6i is built too cheaply to do so much, as I said before I have zero confidence with the unit now period.
