Messsage received and understood - many thanks! Also, if I buy such a machine I will be very limited to what I can do with it in the first instance, as I am NOT in a position to join a club (work away only home some weekends until the Spring) so the sim really is my only option for now...

To be fair cold and short days now sim is a good thing.

I'd say practice sim sim consider a winter/spring project of build pod and boom and try to visit a Club even though you won't join for a while just to see whats what etc etc

Excuse my ignorance but why does a govenor require an additional channel? I understand why pitch and throttle are mixed from the same lever in to 2 different channels, but I would have thought that on a model where you wished to govern the head speed you would simply change the purpose of the "throttle" channel to be a "desired head speed" channel...

...or do you switch between modes depending on the type of flying you are doing?

All the governors I've used allow you to set more than one headspeed, either by linking it to the flightmode or via a separate switch, this will need a 7th channel on a transmitter

I just bought a DX7 (albeit with no receiver) and a copy of Phoenix for £170. Bargain?? I thought so...

These 2 airframes will scale very well for you in the future avoid Raptor to scale and the 600n is cheaper to fix...

Now you want to learn all the basic stuff as it is in pod and boom so circuits all hovering moves and Nose in, figure 8's stall turns and maybe loops if you want. But learn it all pod and boom.

But every move listed above will teach you several things for scale flying as that is your aim

Because when you crash a scale body it WILL Wreck it !!!

Trust me I've done it once and a wrecked scale body is not a nice thing!

If you learn right you'll be ready for just about thing when you fly scale do it wrong it will COST you 10 times more!

Also don't put the cheap crappy ass servos most scale flyers seem to put in bodys like 3001's or 3003's aim for 3050's on the collective there 6kg pull so theres plenty of pull to get you out the shit when it goes wrong!

Scale flying the machines feel heavier they are slower to respond depending how you kit them out. but they can be set up to be agile as well if required. I wouldn't say there unstable though
Many thanks for this advice - based on what you say I have been busy looking into both of these pod and boom heli's and I will indeed opt for the Trex 600 Sport. Looks a good machine and will do everything and more that I want out of the hobby and most importantly will scale very well with one of those lovely Vario 206 fuselages!! I was looking at around £500 for a basic Trex 600n build (about right??).

thats the spec (hyper) i run in my eurocopter it flys very well

They don't on electrics. They work just as you say.

I'd still go for a DX7 if it's in budget.

Better set-up menus. More flight modes. Neat prog mixes, etc.
