The Mcx doesnt need anything mate, Just hold the bind switch on your DX6i and the Mcx will automatically find it. Job done.

I just bought a DX6i and an MCX and am curious as to why the DX6i needs to be set as ACRO and not HELI... Should I not be able to use all the various HELI settings since the MCX is an Heli?

          Thanks for the help

The heli setup has functions that are needed for the more advanced collective pitch helis (such as CCPM) which mixes a number of servos together to give the collective pitch. The mCX is a coaxial which has simple controls so no need for this.

I'm sure Boggy will offer a better explanation!

you have said it all graham! the mcx just needs basic throttle / rudd/airl/ elv controls. as default in acro(plane) there is no need for pitch ,throttle curves and swash mixes etc it doesn't use them

I had previously used your suggestion to bind my mCX to my DX6i, and it worked wonderfully. Regrettably, I had to return the DX6i and Blade 400 to the Hobby Shop as the helicopter was defective. They gave me a new package and now as I try to bind the mCX to the new DX6i I find that the rudder does not respond. Binding is normal otherwise. Suggestions greatly appreciated. I am using the Acro mode with no changes from default.

sounds like your not having much luck Barney!! i would say you have another duff heli or tx im afraid use the servo monitor screen to see if you have movement on the rudd channel) thats about all i can suggest

Solved this problem - now I have a new one. With respect to the lack of throttle response by the mCX, it turned out that I must have accidently touched the throttle trim and clicked it one notch off neutral. I put it back to neutral and all works ok.

Now for my new problem. While fiddling around try and solve the mCX problem, I decided to reset the transmitter (DX6i), thinking that everything would go back to factory settings. Apparently a big error as I appear to have erased my Blade 400 settings. I suspect (hope) I am not the first to have foolishly done this, and am looking for advice on how to obtain and load the factory Blade 400 settings. (I subsequently found the factory settings - see next post)

Another update - and another question. I located the factory settings at: http://h1071118.hobbyshopnow.com/Pro...400RTFHeli.pdf

The setup was straight forward with two exceptions:
                      1. DR & Expo shows correct settings as: AILE 1 90%
                      ELEV 1 90%
The 90% was easy to set but I couldn't change the 0 to 1, so I have:
                      AILE 0 90%
                      ELEV 0 90%

                      2. TRAVEL ADJ wants RUDD <-90% ->90%
There is only one number to adjust on the menu, so am I safe to assume that setting 90% at the one occasion is all that's required.

While I assume the TRAVEL ADJ is ok, I am concerned about the 0 vs 1 difference I can't resolve on D\R & EXPO.

                      Advice greatly appreciated.
