  • JR dsx 9 problems ???

    hi,
i recently picked up my tranny (not the pervy one)to have a session on the sim, plugged it in and nothing happend, switched it on and off several times same result dead,i am not 100% sure i switched it off from the previous time i used it so i put it on charge overnight ,next morning still dead so i asked a mate who got one the same time as me if he had any problems,he told me his had done the same a while ago ,so following his advice i unplugged the battery and plugged it back in and hey presto it;s working againi have tried pulling and moving battery leads etc to see if it do'es it again but it thankfully has not but all the same it's a bit worrying .
has this happend to anyone else ???
or is this some sort of safety/reset thing that jr do????
hope one of you can help

    thanks
    jeff

My PCM 9x did exactly the same thing last week! I'd never seen it before! I thought my batts were toast.. This is what I did:
    1. Took TX off of charge.
    2. Plugged phoenix dongle into the back of the tx while holding ENT (to select my "sim" model.
    a. Now at this point it did a very short beep, like the normal power on beep but cut short as if it started to power up and then croaked....
    3. Unplugged lead
    4. Tried turning tx on/off a number of times, it was dead!
    5. Suspected battery was maybe toast, took it out the tx and measured oP voltage with multi-meter, all fine...
    6. Started swearing and cursing...
    7. Put battery back into tx again...
    8. Turned the power on and on she came no problems!!!!

Go figure! Not the dsx 9 is basically the PCM9x with the 2.4G in it. (People say it's not, but really it is! With one or two minor software tweaks built in...) I suspect something is upsetting the TX that a "power-on-reset" clears... I suspect some parts of the TX are always powered even when the switch is off, it might just be a PMU (Power Managment Unit) chip, but whatever it is, it's getting upset! I don't know what, but I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one!

      jr probs

thanks for the help trebor, lets hope it's only an issue with the sim/power up side of things ,i must have had the jr 6 months now and have only had this problem once and your explanation may well ring true as it has never done it while at the field ect

Happened to me just the once as you know Jeff but thankfully not happened since.

I know I left the TX turned on so obviously flattened the battery but symtons were the battery had to be disconnected to bring the DXS9 back to life after it was charged.

        Bizarre.
