Throttle Ratchet - Futaba 7C

Hello all,

I've recently removed the ratchet mechanism from the throttle on my tx so as to get smooth ratchetless movement, however now the stick is very easy to move with very very little resistance.

Is there any way I can increase the resistance of the throttle stick at all, I've looked under the back cover when I got rid of the ratchet arm (as per the instructions) but can't see any possible way to do it - am I missing something or should I just put the ratchet arm back on to stiffen things up?

if its the same as the ff9 then use a pair of pliers to flatten the end ov the ratchet and put it back on on the smoth side of the quadrant. no ratchet but still have the friction....

There is a very tiny screw that you can tighten up but on mine it didnt make much difference, a friend a the club bent the rachet arm slightly so it kept the tension, now you can just feel the rachet but it is nice a smooth for the throttle. The only other thinkg is to send it back to Ripmax and get them to put a new spring in it!!

You could always try flipping the metal ratchet over

Just slide a small length of CLEAN fuel tube over it, its smooth but has a slight resistance, can be adjusted by slackening the clamping screw as well.

Thats all i done, that combined with getting the screw at just the right tension.

I just filed the knurled plastic smooth. Remove the back cover, take off the metal ratchet, file the plastic rounded/knurled part completely smooth and refit. Takes five minutes. Silky smooth with good resistance. You can even bend the metal ratchet very gently to get the amount of resistance you like. Job done.

Funnily enough I've just done this with my new FF7 2.4

Bent the ratchet straight with some pliers & fiddled with the bend on the ratchet to get the right feel.

Can still feel a slight ratchet but we'll see how it goes before I do any more.

small piece of silicon tube over the metal spring loosen or tighten to your preference.

smooth as silk.

take the metal arm off, put it on a smooth susrface and hit a few times with a big hammer, fun, and its now flat as a pancake, and smooth as silk

The only thing about tubing I worry about is slowly grinding it away inside the Tx.

Maybe a bit of plastic dust may not hurt, but.............

Hmmm....I was wondering about that too before I did it. I'll be keeping a close eye on the amount of wear to the tubing regularly to see if any problems crop up.
