  • Spectrum DX7 Mode 1 to Mode 2

In all innocence I bought a DX7 Mode 1 transmitter then discovered the differences between mode 1 and 2. The mode 1 doesn't feel right as it is not a true "cyclic" mode.
Is it possible to convert a DX7 from Mode 1 to Mode 2?

Any help would be most appreciated.

It can be done but it needs a bit of a rewire as per Aidis tutorial. Why oh why didnt they include a simple software mode change??

Great radio though, mine is 2 years old this xmas and its still going strong.

Just out of interest, how do you know whether its a mode 1 or mode 2 DX7, is there a label somewhere on the TX?

they are not marked with a label as such but just by looking you will see that the left stick is central and the right is lowered(throttle)on mode 1 and vice/versa on mode two

there is also mode three and four but lets not go there! cos i dont know!!!

Not look at stick - it is not enough ! I have got some mode1 radio which had its left stick with the ratchet... Better to see at the servo monitor if the left stick goes into the 1st (THROTTLE) channel..

You could always use it upside down and reverse all the channels !

It will not work - mode1 has the throttle + aileren on the right, but mode2 has the cyclic (aileron + elevator) on the right... Upside down mode2 will get aileron+elevator to the left and throttle+rudder to the right. It is not mode1, but mode3.

I wasn't actually being serious about using the TX upside down, but....

As long as it's a 90 degree cyclic you could just swap the servo's over on the RX.

                        I must add that -

                        A - I have never tried this
B - Would not recommend anyone trying it
C - If you do try it and end up crashing then don't come crying to me!
