  • Is my Tx Single or Dual Conversion?

I have just bought a second hand Tx on eBay, and need to know whether it's Single or Dual Conversion.

It is a Futaba T6NL 'Challenger', and the closest I've found online is the T6NLK (PDF) which looks identical, but has the word 'Conquest' on it instead.

Given its age, I am assuming it to be single conversion, but is there a way to know for sure?

And, for future reference, can Txs only use the one type of crystal?

As far as I know all TX's transmit straight FM frequency -- It's the way a Rx works that designate weather it's Duel conversion / Single conversion / ppm or pcm .

Dave is right, Dual/single conversion is how the rx deals with processing the signal from the tx.

the signal is the same either way.

PPM/PCM is a different matter tho, that determines how the signal is encoded in the transmitter.

if you have a dual conversion RX then you need dual conversion rx xtal.
