Throttle cut DX7

May be I've missed something in the manual. But having partially moved from a Futaba 8 super to a DX7 is there a method of utilising a switch for "throttle cutoff"on the DX7. I've set throttle hold but can't seem to find a cutoff method.

And the quality of the Futaba seems far better than the DX7, I may live to regret this move.

There is a way of doing by using only program mix two and mixing the gear to throttle. Finless bob explains it in his Trex 600n video very well

Implementing a Throttle Kill function

There is no throttle kill function provided with the DX-7, instead there's 'Throttle Idle Recovery'.
For those who prefer a traditional Kill function, here's a solution which works off the MIX switch:

• Use PMIX-5 or PMIX-6
• mix THRO->THRO
• SW=MIX
• Rate = -100 / -100 (note both negative)
• Offset = -125 (note negative)

Note 1: use only PMIX-5 or 6, otherwise the kill setting will vary with idle trim.
Note 2: The kill position is adjusted via Offset.

The throttle trim has a recovery option. When this is set you lower the throttle to kill the engine. Next when you want to start it again you push up once on the trim and it automatically goes to the point before you lowered it (your idle point). I have used the P-Mix on the gyro rate switch but on other models i just use the throttle recovery as its just as easy and doesnt complicate things IMO. Unless both sides of the switch are set to Heading Hold mode and you dont use normal rate then switching this you can forget to switch it back. Meaning next time you turn the heli on the gyro doesnt initialise properly (talking gy401 here) because its in normal rate mode. The GY401 must boot up in HH mode ti initialise correctly.

This I think is basically finless bobs method.
I now use it on all my ic helis and planks as a throttle cut

the mix is this as I use mix1 for my governor settings I use mix 2 for the throttle cut. as you will know in heli DX7's only have 3 mixes available.

the gear switch is also used for the gyro gain, as I dont take it out of HH this not really a problem to me.

the mix only becomes active when the throttle is at the bottom of its range. the + 15% value changes from model to model as this is the amount the throttle servo moves when the switch is active to get this value you need to slowly increase it until the engine stops but you dont want to go so far as the servo is binding.

the only down side is if your at low throttle and switch out of hh then the engine will stop.

Unfortunately its only a make do and one of the limitations of an excelent radio.

Just use the throttle trim and the recovery function no need to waste a mix. use the mixes for other stuff

Thanks for the answers. There would appear to be the 2 options a "mix" or "throttle recovery" method.
I'll give both a try and see which I get on with.

That is, if it ever stops raining and the field ever becomes usable again.

And if anyone out there has been flooded you have my sympathy.
