    can anyone explian why model helis need them and what do they do ?

    Now that flybarless systems are getting more popular, and working really well, there is an alternative to the flybar.

    Other than that, it's used for stability and directing the helicopter around the sky

        one of the biggest reasons is to reduce the power needed from the servo to act on the rotor disc, effectively acting as a torque multiplier
