  • Futaba 12FG again.. gyro help needed !

    Guys,

How on earth do you get a CSM 720 to set into heading hold on the 12fg ? Buggered if I could work it out and any help gratefully received !

Also when I flipped the idle up on the vibe 50 to idle up 1 the gyro just droped out of heading hold... How do I set heading hold idle up as well as normal mode for heading hold.

    any help gratefully received !

I personally disabled that god awful gyro screen and set up a programmable offset mix with 100% either way on the end points of the mix (on the GYRO channel). Assign that to a switch and in 'group' mode (to stop the idle up problem), the switch will control the HH / non-HH modes and group means to use it in all conditions. Then just use your travel adjusts to set the gain.

    Hope that helps, Trev

      Trev,

      Cheers I think I understand that !!!!

So the gyro page is now all INH.

Need to look at the offset mixing shortly.

Ah group is the way to keep the lot working right through all idle ups makes sense really

        Okay....

Not worked out or i'm being daft one of the two....

On the Gyro page I can now get it to engage heading hold with the CSM 720 and in idle up 1 now as well. But Its either heading hold or nothing or get it on normal and its normal or nothing !!!

I should be able to get the Vibe gyro to behave okay as thats a 601 and I'll just group that to make sure its okay.

I had the vibe sat nose in for a while I was trying to work out why heading hold wasn't working earlier!

Looks like the 500 is almost ready so thats something anyway as soon as I'm happy the gyro is doing what it should do.....

I don't have any experience with the 720, but I've setup the 560 on my 12FG.

In the GYRO menu, ACT/INH is ON for both rates and I change from NORM to AVCS with the assigned switch.

Not sure if this is much help.

Yea it helps but I want gyro switching on the one switch so middle is normal
and down is avcs as an example.

I bet its something really simple I'm doing wrong you know

That's exactly how mine is setup. I use switch SB and set it so that down is HH and middle and up are both normal. When you select the switch, you can determine the on/off positions as well.

Ah but when my switch is up the gyro is off totally

found the switch on/off but it does

                off
                on
                on

                or

                off
                off
                on

                oh well getting there slowly

You need +100 / -100 end points on your offset mix, not 0 / 100 which I'm guessing you've got...

Think of it as percentage of movement available in each direction, 0 being central.
