Spektrum DX7 and AR7100 RX - Binding Problem

I am trying to Bind the afore mentioned equipment. I have put the bind plug into the +/- port on the RX, powered on the BEC, pressed and held the bind button on the back of the DX7 while turning on the DX7 and I am unable to get it to bind.

The manual talks of LEDs etc flashing but I just aint seeing it. I am reading the manual from this location

Your bnid plug needs to be in the battery port, so either

plug your battery / power switch in another port
use a y-lead
use the power switch which came with the receiver

Power up your rx first, the leds on the recievers should flash fast
press and hold the bind button on the back of your dx7 and power on.
After a while the leds should stop flashing, go off and then come back on solid.

Power off the receiver and remove the bind plug.
power on the receiver and it should connect to the dx7 and the receiver lights should be on solid.
