  • DX6i switches?

As a new comer to the DX6i, the manual doesn't explain the functions of the various switches, most are D/R, which I assume is dual rate, but as a relative beginner to CP Helis, should I bother programming these. As for the Expo settings, should I be messing with these?

as a beginner these can be the most usefull!
expo softens the controls around center stick but still gives full movement.
dual rate means you can reduce the amount of movement each control has.

Fast response Boggy . I'll put in the settings that you posted ReX6i, that should get me up and running, hopefully.

It would be very useful if someone could explain the function of the various switches.
What switch would you flick for inverted flight, not near that stage, but would be handy to know just incase it was flicked by accident?
The throttle hold switch seems to be the one for 3D on the HBK2.
When setting the pitch of the blades, do I use the throttle hold switch and set the pitch at mid stick to zero, then follow the settings in the Twister manual?

there is no switch for inverted unless you mean idle up!
yes set throttle hold and zero pitch at mid stick

Go to the throttle curve display graphic and that'll show you in detail how the throttle moves, but I'd advise you not to go there yet, you've loads to learn before 3D mate.

I have my DR's set at 80% for mid stick smoothness, it gives a nice relaxed flying style, of course you can still go like a rocket if you like

Yes I was meaning Idle up. Is the throttle hold switch the same as that?
If you are doing FFF and F8's on the twister would you leave all switches at 0?

No but if you change the flying style to stunt mode you need the throttle cut switch towards you when changing batts or just landed for a few minutes.

That just stops accidental take off's, if the stick is just off the zero position and you connect a batt, it can be quite hairy, always saftey first mate.

top left rear= trainer hold this switch forward when binding rx or training a beginner
top left front=gear/f.mode flick this switch forward to give idle up( set throttle curve) if you set a straight line eg 85% as per my settings this effectivly locks the motor running at 85% and the left stick becomes pitch only, so you get high stick-positive pitch.. low stick negative pitch..and thats were you get your inverted flight switch idea
top right rear= throttle hold flick this forward to disable the motor.
top right front=rudder dual rate gives two different amounts of rudder travel(i dont use this )
front panel outer switches= airl/elv dual rate sets two different amounts of travel. set 0 to100% and 1 to 80%
front inner left =flap/gyro sets gyro gain 0 for h/h 1 for rate (if you have set the value under 50 in the menu)
front inner right= throttle cut this is used for stopping nitro engines i have enabled mine to start and stop the count down timer.

Thanks for that Ron, very helpful, I am beginning to understand this Tx a little better. My Trainer and F.mode switches are on the RHS, but now I know what their function is.

What is the function of the throttle Hold switch? I assumed that if flicked that it would "Hold" the headspeed at the desired throttle position, am I getting confused with Idle up? If it disables the motor, what are its' benefits?

On a Glow Heli, the Throttle hold puts the engine to Idle and disengages the clutch. You can then practice an auto rotation from on high.

It is also a safety feature and prevents the engine from throttling up if you were to accidentally knock the collective when carrying the model to the flight line or in the pits.

I always start my Heli with throttle hold on as well.

Same applies to an electric only the motor does not turn when throttle hold is engaged as there is no clutch to disengage.

                            Cheers
