Check this out, hot new receiver from Spektrum.

    Truely remarkable.
The only thing I would question is the regulator is only 2A, which is ok, but not if your running some super JR-digitals that can pull insane amps.

My bad, the 2Amp reg is only for the gyro/tail. woohoo!
The rest of the servos are directly connected to the 2S lipo.

If you are going to be using this, make absolutely certain that the servos are designed to run off 2S Lipo !!

Are there any that are? I remember hearing about Spektrum servos designed to run direct on a 2 cell lipo but I've never seen any more than rumors. I know the Yanks like to run 8717 servos on 8V but this isn't in line with JR's recommendations is it

So if I got one of these I wouldnt need to use my align 2-in1 then?

Do they have a battery monitor on them?

just been having a proper look into this they seem to be the mutts danglers, the governor is said to be quite good and it does allow for 8v cyclics and 5v tail. granted the servo life WILL BE REDUCED but hey ho who cares its more bang for buck imo on fastlad now ordering one will let you know what its like after weekend as i may pick it up from the shop tomorrow. only draw back against compared to the 2 in 1 is no voltage display but im sure you could rig up one of them voltage display units to do same job and no on board glow, but there are other on boards out there other than the align one its just align seem to be the only reg and on board glow atm

I'm sure BLS451's will run on 8V, it's just that the maximum specified voltage is 6V per Futaba.

Why run a DS821 on 8V, it seems to have a short enough life in any heli with output shaft breakage common. The point was that I haven't seen any servos on the market that are designed to run off a 2 cell lipo pack directly and that is the point mac_man was making I think, if you send a faulty DS8717 back to MacGregor that has been run on 8V, don't expect the warranty to cover it.

Just had a read - lots of good stuff, but 150 quid to replace what I have working at the moment (i.e. ATG, 2-in-1 and AR7000) is a little too much at this point in time. The only way I can see it being calibrated would be to tach, which I dont have either (since I decapitated the last one LOL) so another cost for me!... At least with the ATG I have the g-view and a direct read of the target RPM.

I like all the ideas it brings together though... now if it only had a carb smart or similar which works off exhaust gas temp rather than head temp and some form of display card which allowed the parameters to be seen and adjusted... well that would be me sold!

Can't be too far away that sort of combo.
                        Regards,

good point about the warranty, the manufacturers wont be honouring any burn out claims if you use this receiver, but im very interested how my x-treme will behave on 8v, infact im a bit scared its bloody lively enough now!!
