  • DX7 or FF9 2.4?

Will I gain anything from going to Spektrum from Futaba? Are there any CCPM mixing in the DX7 that makes it stand out from the rest??

I use a FF 7 2.4 and its got alot more mixes and GOV mode built in now to it as well which is nice ... Never used a DX7 so cant comment .. Other than the first batch of 6's and the modules playing up with the 0000 code all is well ... Same as Spekky had there power outages problems which are sorted as well ... All in all the choice will be yours If ya already used to the futaba menus then its a breeze as i had a FF7 35mhz and apart from the extra menus all the rest are the same as i was used to ... Deciding factor for me was the way it jumps channels and doe not lock onto a certain channel liek spekky ... Am not dissing spekkies but am futaba lover heheh

Do not waste your money getting a Futaba module for an FF9 - it has horrifically slow CCPM swashplate mixing (so slow you can actually see it if you use very fast cyclic servos).

My vote also goes to the FF7 2.4GHz - an awesome set - the new Governor screen makes it perfect for helis, and it has throttle-timer unlike the DX7. As you're used to the menus in the FF9 the FF7's will be second nature.

Is the 2.4 FF7 1024 resolution and does the 10c have the same latency errors as the 9c?

DX7, miles better mate. I've handled the Futaba 6 and 7chan series and the DX7 is just so much better IMO. I've yet to find a fault with mine other than the balance, which is a common problem on the 2.4GHz TX's and a easy fix.

as far as am aware i think the FF7 is 1024 resolution .. latency is lower than a normal FF7 as well ... I think theres a thread on here somewhere that someone did on latencies and diff radios .. Just cant remember where .. prolly the radio threads lol

This handling of the 6 and 7 .. Have you actually flown with the 2.4 versions of above radios or just the 35mhz versions ??? .... Me i only owned futaba .. so cant comment on the DX7 as a owner butI have flown with a DX7 and to be honest theres not alot in it feel wise but am used to the shape of futaba .. plus the added swash mixes and some other bits and 2 idle ups and the ability to make the GOV work in each idle up mode is a bonus as well

Sorry the 7chan was okay from memory, just a little disappointing for the price it's selling at. Both were the 2.4GHz versions.

To be honest theres not alot in it between the DX7 and the FF7 apart from personal preference .. As for price i paid £160 for mine with TX and RX ... did not need the rest of the stuff that came with it ...I think that because spektrum has been 2.4 alot longer that alot of poeple now have the sets ... Whichever set they choose they will get something nice

The FF7 2.4GHz is 1024 resolution, and I doubt very much the 10C inherits the latency issues of the 9C in swash mixing given it's a brand new radio so if you want a module system it'd be a good set to have, esp if you're a Futaba man but want a higher-spec radio.

It's a very close call between the DX7 and FF7 in features, price and latency. Here's the infamous thread about TX latency, as you will see the FF7 just beats the DX7 on eCCPM average response time too:

                    http://www.runryder.com/helicopter/t172571p1

                    Here's the relevant bits:

                    Transmitter|Receiver|MLF|MLL|MaxLF|MaxLL|Avg
                    -------------+-------+---+---+----+----+-----
                    FutabaT7C 2.4|R617FS |11 | 13| 39 | 41 | 26.4
                    Spektrum DX7 |AR7000 |14 | 16| 36 | 40 | 27.5

                    All times are in milliseconds.
MLF - Minimum latency to first change at receivers output
MLL - Minimum latency to last change at receivers output
MaxLF - Maximum latency to first change at receivers output
MaxLL - Maximum latency to last change at receivers output
Avg - Average of MLF, MLL, MaxLF, and MaxLL

It's a great thread, especially to see quite how slow the FF9 is at eCCPM mixing.

Personally it HAS to be the FF7 for me, not just because I want a throttle-timer and neat receivers, but mainly because I fly TX Mode III and the DX7 cannot do that at all. The new JR DSX9 though is fanstastic, so maybe consider one of those instead if you want to go JR/Spektrum.

Just a quick Question, what would the GOV mode let me do exactly, av got the GV-1 gov from futaba too.
                      cheers

Allow you to control the Gov ON/OFF and also the head speed for each flight condition or engine rpm. (I.e. Normal, Idle up 1&2). Also allow switch assignment. I do it all from the the GV-1 and leave the 9c settings standard apart from the switch assignment setting. I just find it easier.
